In china at the Beginn of each school year (middle/ high school and university) you have to go through a week or 2 military training. That's absolut normal there.

I’m sad that his mom seems like a really nice lady but looks like she’s about to oppose of his relationship. I think above all she should trust his decision especially since she knew what his feelings about getting married were and he’s finally found someone who he’s willing to marry. Also I’m kind of upset that they’re making it out to be a bigger deal than I think it is??? They’re both adults and she’s one semester away from graduating. I get there’s an age gap but it upsets me that no one is trying to see how genuine their affection is for each other.
