Cheating... Seme is "dating" a girl... to that girl, they are a couple. And he's sleeping with uke behind her back. By your definition, that's absolutely cheating.

And the 'subject' fully treated lightly? Comedy? I'm pretty sure the tag up there is "DRAMA", but instead of drama, they made it "funny"?

And if you don't understand why everyone's hackles are up, doesn't that mean you only understand a small part of the story? What a poor delivery.

And yes, seme might be slow, he's described as an airhead (as you pointed out), but that's the thing, he's unknowingly hurting people... not just the uke (which is shown jokingly) but the girls he's been dating, especially that panel where they were dating and the girl saw a wedding event thing, she was thinking bout them together getting married all happy and the seme's thinking bout ass and cross-dressing,

Still don't understand why almost everyone hates the story?

1) I was speaking about the main characters, so the uke and the seme. I thought it was pretty clear since evrybody in the comment section is always only talking about the main couple but apparently it wasn't for you?

2) Oh sorry, I haven't read the tags, but I did read the manga. Apparently, you did the opposite, you read the tags but didn't read the manga.
If you had read the manga, you would have seen the various comical panels with character drawn as chibis (and let me inform you that chibis are never used for tragic moments). You would also have detetected that there isn't any depressing atmosphere so yes, the manga IS light.
If you need references because you have never read a tragic yaoi, I may suggest you some of them, and then you can fully compare by yourself:

I'm not a fan of drama at all, so let me tell you that I know how to reconize what is drama and what is not.
Maybe you have done what most of the readers have done, which is construe the manga into what you think about its subject. While this manga is comic, your opinion on this topic is that it isn't funny, it has to be serious so you'll not even read the manga the way it is but how you want it to be.

However, you indeed proved something: you haven't understood anything. Clearly, you haven't understood many points on what I was talking about, while, without pretension, I think it was very obvious. So I think you did the same with this manga and just didn't understand it at all?
I suggest you to read it again (or maybe to read it for the fist time in your life?), maybe this time the way the mangaka drawn it.

Your comment was the reason why I end up reading this manga I did not expect the ending. I expected it to be sad like all the other bl manga Similar to this one. But it end happy I did not expect that from all the comment I had read other than your that made it out that it end sadly for the uke and how evil the seme was. I can't agree with you much that the seme was just an airhead or just slow. But the ending was a nice turn on such a sad bl genre that you wouldn't normally get when reading manga like similar to this one (⌒▽⌒)

I went back to reread this manga and yeah, the seme is just an empty-headed guy. He doesn't cheat on his girlfriend out of malice - for him it is natural to put his friend first, but because he considers him a friend, he doesn't even think of the possibility of b becoming a couple. You can actually see how slow his thinking process is when the other guy appears. I didn't notice it the first time I read it and last night I was like "Wow, if there ever was a picture under thick skull, it should be one of this guy." I kinda feel sorry for the uke more than I feel happy for him, but the uke seemed to be okay with the outcome and the way they got there, so eh. It's not as bad as to be in the rating of 7.

It's really just a problem of uke's self-love/self-esteem... which would make this story seem like its glorifying being a mistress.

Also, the way you said that whole sentence, and this part "...for him, it is natural to put his friend first..."

Given that statement, then the Seme has a serious lack of common sense reminiscent of being mentally ill. If he is, mentally ill, and the uke has a very low self-esteem due to circumstances, then the whole story would make sense.

I'm not sure if "mentally ill" is the term, but I'm willing to bet that both his IQ and EQ are really low. There is even an element of child-like innocence in an adult's body, which is... slightly disturbing the more I think about it.

And yeah, I think sometimes BL artists and authors throw women under the bus with the whole being a mistress thing because they think we won't mind as long as the main couple gets or stays together as intended.

I was going to use autism but I thought they have more sense than the seme (I really don't like the seme don't I?). This observation though is not out of hate, but I just thought it's reminiscent... As you said, his mentality has a child-like innocence, and I did pick up on that the very first time when he and his girlfriend was dating, that's why given his lack of common sense and undeveloped emotional maturity, I thought he might be suffering some mental illness connected to autism, or maybe caused by the environment, which slowed his mental and emotional growth... But I didn't want to admit that coz like... the seme's actions are way too much for a portrayal of mental illness. (I might be over analyzing and using serious subjects to explain the story, but as I learned after reading a lot of stories, also trying my hand on being a writer, making a character for a story, even a short one, has a lot of factors and backgrounds. Some are mentioned in the story, while some are just in the head of the authors.)

True!!! TBH, I'm gay myself and I just really don't like any form of cheating in a story, gay or straight. It won't stop me from reading IF the story's good, but it's a big nope for me. Though I could probably count on one hand the stories I finished reading that has cheating...

I will not only indicate that to you, but to everyone who read that comment: please, really, don't speak about autism at the drop of the hat. Autism is the new popular disease. If someone is a little bit different from others, then we say "ah, they should be an autistic." It's so exasperating. People are so pretentious, talking like they already have their psychology certificate when they know absolutely nothing about psychology. There are more than 200 mental illness, but for the population, it only can be autism, schizophrenia or bipolar disorder since they only know that.
To prove my point, you perfectly illustrated what I just say:
- Autism isn't a mental illness. It's a developmental disorder. Even if you chose not to opt for autism when you spoke about mental illness, you still thought that the seme is mentally ill. That shows that you don't know what a mental disease is, and you can't differentiate that from just a syndrome which is less important.
- Talking about syndrome, if you had just a little bit of knowledge about autism, you call have say "the seme has Asperger syndrome" (which is not a mental illness) and not "he is autistic". It's not the same thing. The seme is definitely not an autistic, but you may think, from what we have seen, that he has Asperger syndrome. But also from what we could have seen, what is seven chapters and a unique situation, it's not enough at all.
- And the worst, it's that you're using autism as an insult to put the seme down. "I was going to use autism but I thought they have more sense than the seme", how can you dare say that? For one and for all, that the proof that you know nothing about autism. "they have more sense..." Hum. Not having sense isn't a trouble of autism, sorry.

Then, to answer to the other comments than yours: His behavior doesn't mean his IQ is very low. He apparently don't understand how social interactions work, that doesn't mean he's an idiot, like, at all. Many very intelligent people have troubles with social interaction. Well, it may be true that he may have a low EQ, but still, that doesn't make him an emotionless idiot. People with low EQ still have emotion.
(But yeah, I agree, he totally looks like a child in an adult body, even though I think his way of thinking isn't totally similar to a kid's one)

However I agree with your preceed of analysing a story, even if it's just a (short) story, it's still good to search far away than what is just explain in the book, if the reader want to really understand what they just read. That's why, in my opinion, author have to be vigilant on the logical of what they create.
That's why I also agree that a story isn't satisfactory just because the main couple end up together. There are so many yaoi, for example, where the protagonist is being rapped by X just for the seme to comfort him afterwards! Wtf, how so serious events can be washed away so simply?
Of course, I'm not talking about this kind of event if they are applied seriously to the scenario and not just for the fluff's sake. Like in this manga since it's the main subject.

Furthermore, I will repeat myself on that point: If you don't like the topic of the story, it's not the story's fault, it's your own for reading it. So please don't complain because it pissed off other readers to see you to cast aspersions based on your own feeling and not on logical. If I don't like sport manga, I'll not read Haikyuu and then complain on the internet saying "It's so a pain in the ass, it's only voleyball, I hate voleyball!"

In my comment on this manga, I have never insulted anyone, not even the characters. All the more so since I've clearly told you that I think we can debate calmly, happily, and being respectful toward each other (I'm sorry if it's not the case here, but please understand that I've trouble being respectful toward someone who is not respectful toward me ^_^ Human beings tend to treat others as they are treated). All my arguments are justified, I take the time to explain them (you can't deny it, just look at how my answers are long!), and they are based on logical and consideration, not on my feelings.

I think I could stop here since just this sentence prove everything in my point, but let's continue. Your second answer wasn't better, after insulting my brain, you chose to insult my maturity and my understanding. It's like you don't want to win over my arguments, but win over me. Those are almost what's called argumentum ad personam, and you should watch out for that, this behaviour shows that you just can't find how to answer me and you throw me the first thing that make "seems" like an argument. I could also use that, saying "You're so stupiiiiid", "My 8 years old cousin have more arguments than you", "Are you sure you're not a kid?", "Go see a shrink, you look like you have problems in your head.", but it'll lead us nowhere, and I'm not here for a fight but for exchanging ideas. glad i sorted by popularity and saw this gem of a comment. the manga wasnt THAT fucked up or disturbing, it was distasteful but as a yaoi reader there are much worse than these.
