I get why you would blame him for having such friends. But you can't just blame him because of their actions. He's not expecting all of this talk about his ex, too. What I see the fault in here is, if he really was bonded to that ex of his, he should've opened up about this to Lyle before already. Especially knowing the personality of Lyle where he keeps things all bottled up. They have to adjust to each other if they want to be together.
