It's sad because this just shows how broken their relationship currently is, considering that even if Mo kept so many memorabilia of He Tian, it's impossible to say the two of them are still as close.
Mo is angry at He Tian for leaving him for so long, while still being unable to stop loving him, and when He Tian saw that box he realized that. How sad he made Mo feel, and much he fucked up by destroying their relationship like that, even if it was for their mutual benefit. So I wouldn't say He Tian was quite "touched", he was probably grovelling on his mistakes...
