My heart was thumping throughout this chapter! And Chaehui's first appearance scared the shit out me.

On one hand I'm recalling our wild guesses WHY the queen needs Nok's face. Now that we know there's no dark twisted magic in it, then maybe some regret appears? But on the other hand, it fits the plot very well and I like it when in the stories the evilness doesn't come from anything grand. That it's just a spark which makes the worst out of a certain person. Do you know Mo Dao Zu Shi? There are two such examples of it.

I'm a huge fan of The Grandmaster of demonic cultivation - it's so well planned story. I have one regret about the author though, but I don't want to spoil ;)
I have yet to read the official translation, so I can't tell about it - I've only read it's not so good? But who knows.
I def advise to read the novel first. They're BUNCH of titles, curtesy names, names, sects names..... I've tried the drama first - dropped at the beginning bc I didn't understand anythingXD then the novel - it sorted things out. Then anime (always forget what's the name of Chinese anime? donghua?) - and for now I've rewatched it 2 or 3 times - and lastly the drama - this time it all made sense ^__^

The cliffhanger is killing me! Jaeshin looks quite wounded. Will he be able to gather some strength for a last attack on the evil queen? I'm thinking there may be another intervention from someone to help them. Have we reached the season finale yet?

Deedee, all those talks that Jaeshin will protect Nok and to never leave his side, and now what? As soon as he entered the queen's quarters he's starting to rot from the inside, then got himself pierced by some dark energy... Maybe his brothers will come to the rescue?;) A wild idea... I fear Jaeshin might shield Nok and (kinda) die. Yeom can't help bc she's weak and can't leave prince's quarters.

I've assumed Daisy knows about the published versions ;D I've read when there's only unofficial one of Mo dao zu shi, though. Later when the books were out I've read opinions dissing this translation (from ppl claiming they've read the Chinese original), but I dunno.

However scum villain was awful, horrible. I absolutely don't recommend it, actually dissuade from reading it.

I agree with akane. First they've met as small children, when Chaehui was relishing she can see ghosts - others not, and ppl's fear bc of that. As well as power she can get from it. But she wasn't in cahoots with the great evil. I think she killed him a few years later also on her own. Massacring Yeom's family should also be done solo by Chaehui...

What do you think: the only thing Chaehui wanted the most, but even the great evil couldn't get her, was resurrecting Nok's mother to torment her? But wasn't she the one who killed her?

HAHA i loved scum villain but yeah everybody has different opinions. The official TL was criticized, but the one by exiled rebels wasn't that good either, so I still think its better to stick with the official TL if anybody plans to read mdzs

oh yeah thanks a bunch! I was aware of the official translation by SS, but was a bit hesitant to spend money upfront since I'm not sure how long it might take me to finish even one volume due to my reader’s slump

okay now I get yall. I kind of overlooked the fact that she killed the kid a few years after they met. I went back to check chap86 and yeah they do look a bit more grown towards the part where she killed him. ( that was my main concern cause i was thinking she killed him soon-ish after they met and that'd have made her even more of an unhinged psychopath)

Yes, it was bc of the talismans that protected Nok. I've thought all the time it's Chaehui's doing to reveal them. But if so wouldn't she know it could lead to the queen's death? Her plan was to send the queen into exile and the torment her there?
