Right? It makes me so mad....grown women are not airheads and they know what sexual harassment is. She is not stupid and this writing is making me pissed. I mean yes it’s funny that he thinks he’s going to get some but instead he gets pranked and realizes she was never into him but there’s no way she would think trying to get her naked could be a “greeting”. Can we stop writing airhead female leads??? There’s other ways to keep your mc in the dark that somebody has a crush on her without infantilizing her. Tbh I think it has to do with the prevailing misogyny in Japan that even romance and shoujo writers that are women fall into. Being too strong willed or tough is too masculine so they add in stupidity and airheadedness to feminize her and because they see that as a cute and inherently feminine trait. Literally watched and read a bunch of stuff on it. They purposely do this to characters. Everyone know Isabelle the dog in Animal Crossing? When designing her they literally decided to make her an airhead because she was too capable and not cute and girly enough and worried she wouldn’t be popular with fans. Like they openly said really misogynistic things about their design process because it’s still normal there. I don’t remember where I watched and read it all but if anyone wants to look it up it’s pretty damning how casually misogynistic Japan is. I mean their women have even less civil rights than us and can still get legally fired bc of discrimination (like bc they’re pregnant or their husband gets a promotion bc IF and MIGHT the husband need to move for work she would be assumed to leave and follow him so they can fire her bc her husband who works at a completely different place MIGHT have to move for work. Plus all the sexual harassment and stalking epidemic). JUST SAYING.

Right!? I’ve seen so many interview videos and the men so openly talk about how much they want stupid or virgin or young girls because they themselves are so insecure and inadequate. And then they’re so into gender roles but at the same time then in the same interviews they turn around and are mad that the women aren’t more forward! And start bashing them for not talking to the men first or making sexual or romantic advances or things like that and they already revealed they don’t think that because they want more progressive women but because they don’t feel like they can measure up and perform traditionally masculine gender roles because they’re too timid and scared of inadequacy. So the women there are damned whether they subscribe to gender roles or not because their men aren’t taking any accountability for themselves. Like we all have anxiety dudes. You think women aren’t nervous about the same things? Sorry you’re expected to ask people out on dates if you want to date them. But like look at everything women are supposed to do? Like huge shade here, women are expected to literally let men inside them which is an extremely vulnerable act and most men are shit and don’t care whether they even enjoy it in the first place and you’re mad about being expected to pay for dinner???? I think I know where he's coming from, he thinks he doesn't have a chance with Komi and he knows that manbagi likes him and he likes her because she's a great person to be around so he's willing to give it a shot with manbagi (even if it isn't his first choice). I honestly agree with you that she deserves someone who likes her so I'm hoping that she will learn from this relationship (if it even happens cause the next chapter title is questionable).
