I think I can shed some light to why people still like Dabi other than simping reasons, at least for me. I know for me, the official reveal made me actually start to like his character more, because he's the product of what's wrong with the hero society. (Not justifying his actions, but he makes the plot more interesting when he can paint the heroes in a more grey light). He is a ball of destruction that sees his goals as justified and fair. He's the type of person who won't see reason because he doesn't care, just as long as he can watch the world burn with him. And that's scary. But also bloody fascinating for our heroes to go up against.
honestly I think I'm liking him more than Shigeraki, or at least I see him as more of a threat (other than the obvious power that Shigraki has). He's ambitious, has no attachment to anyone, and the whole broadcasted video was just sinister. He really feels like a villain that's been plotting in the shadows of Shigeraki's plans, and I'm living for it.
I should clarify that I love conflict. So I'm excited to see how the Todoroki's will react to their biggest 'shame' knocking on their doors. (๑•ㅂ•)و✧
Some people's compared this to Killing Stalking (which yes, kidnapping and craziness), but I think I can put into words what I feel is different about it. (Also this is not meant to bash KS, I actually liked it).
These are both messed up people, but they feel very real and reasonable in their decisions. Not saying it's good, but I can connect with the characters in that I understand why they do these things, which I didn't always feel with Killing Stalking.
Dohyun was selfish and really has used and manipulated people all his life (even in the beginning when he was trying to scam the girl). Sungho is more tragic, because he was relatively innocent, but he's idolized what it meant to be with Dohyun and has created his own cage where he needs Dohyun in his life. What I love about this story is the self awareness for these characters. They see the horribleness in themselves and the relationship, but keep selfishly pursuing it. Dohyun has gone full Stockholm syndrome, but I also think he's never had someone 'love' him like this, and he doesn't want to let it go. Sungho has completely understood the situation and himself. He knows he was willing to break Dohyun to have him, and that's not good for dohyun. But he can no longer live without him. It's pretty tragic. But these weird redeemable qualities of theirs has given me a lot of love for the characters, which usually doesn't happen for me.
Sorry for the rant, I just love this so much, and I trust the author in their ending choice. In my perfect world, I'd get them therapy.
very well said, (づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ I also love it very much and the same as you I think this is very different with KS.
Coz with KS I could only rack my brains why the killings are happening but can't seem to understand or feel connection with the characters and they at times look just like your normal everyday psycho criminals.
However, here in warehouse there's actually love and loneliness behind everything albeit the tragic and dark thing they have to go through and that's the reason why I can really connect with what they are feeling and thinking; earning my love for the characters <3
So I love threesomes. Love, love, love them. In every romance/ story where the protagonist has to choose between two people. I'm like "threesome" bam! End the drama.
Road to El Dorodo? Threesome
Chihayafuru? Threesome
Fruits Basket? Threesome Foursome whatever!
But I'm not feeling it here :(
I love sadistic manipulators, but I just don't feel anything from Mr Han. I'm really hoping Hwi and Param stay as a unit. ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
