I really hate bringing real life shit into fiction, but some of the comments are seriously insane. I know it's not the intention of some commenters, but some of the comments almost read like if you've ever experienced this level of traumatic rape that it 'makes sense' to just end your life. That death would be better than rape.
It's very careless wording.
Rape is a deplorable action in itself, but it doesn't (or shouldn't) taint the victim for the rest of their life. It's a wound that stays, but doesn't have to define the person's whole existence. I hope people know that.
This is so fucking real. I feel the same about people constantly using the grape emoji and being coy about the word rape. I know most people are just joking when they say “nahhhh Jiwook gotta khs” but we really gotta examine why people will say shit like “I’d rather DIE than be raped!” As if there is no other option for victims after they’ve reached the apparent nadir of human suffering than to die.
But I'm actually very invested if this story takes a deeper dives into their psyche.
"Did you ever think you did something wrong?'
Park Juyeon kind of seems to have a justice complex. Not only does he want Kwon Jiwook to suffer (presumably something that Park Juyeon experienced) but he wants him to understand EXACTLY his crimes. Unfortunately, I think why people hate on this manhwa is because it's realistic. There's nothing romantic about this. It is the ugliness of rape, and even more unfortunate, there are people IRL that don't think it's wrong. That they're entitled to someone's body.
And Kwon Jiwook isn't above it.
'What did I do to deserve this.'
I'm assuming Park Juyeon is going to let him know.
Last thoughts. people are calling the author is disgusting but I'm veryyy curious to know the author's view. Because this story doesn't read like Jinx where the rapist is (most likely) forgiven and blossoms into a love story. This reads as someone who hates men and portrays them as violent offenders. Just a thought. I might be way off haha.
Ohh now that you mention it, I think that's why I dislike Jinx but like this one. And yeah, I find it interesting how it's foreshadowed every time jiwook asks what did he do and juyeon's face and the mood goes stony like something is off. Actually knowing how korea laws treat their rape victims, I wouldn't be surprised if there's vindicated resentment stemming from that.

Oh heck yes. I was not expecting philosophy in a yaoi but it's appreciated. Looks like MC has an uphill battle in keeping his virtues, but I'm rooting for him. I don't think he can win if he keeps his honest nature though. Man better start learning 4D chess.
