But then he (Mieum's dad) appeared in front of them (as I see it was right before ch 1 in the timeline), so the mom ordered Jian to kill him. But Jian didn't kill the dad, instead used him to blackmail Mieum, because he knew that Mieum would be a key character to bring Jitae down.
So now the mom thinks that Mieum's dad is dead, she doesn't know that Jian didn't kill him.“
