Pretty certain it's a "he", but japanese barely uses pronouns during everyday speech, so it wasn't obvious right away. Any "she" in the translation so far is technically non-canon, the manga never stated a gender until now.

Even though it's toxic I find the MC lovable coz despite everything he's been through he didn't giveup. I'm a real sucker for strong-willed characters and the development in the main story was also satisfying for me.
