phi doesn’t really get it bc of the childhood he had growing up; sex to him isn’t really a big deal bc of it. he’s never been genuinely attached to any of his sexual partners. honestly, if both parties agree and consent to an open relationship then ofc it’s not big deal and it’s no longer cheating bc both parties are fine with it. but this wasn’t a open or poly relationship that apollo had, it was an exclusive one where both parties were to be faithful to one another — one where you don’t want your significant other to be touching anyone else or have them being touched. I hope phi learns to understand it more later on.. bc if he continues with that mind set, when they eventually fall for each other for real, i can definitely see apollo hesitating to enter a relationship with him bc he’s scared that phi thinks that way.
i don’t think apollo is the type to be like “sex is only to be had with something you love” either (i mean the guy is literally pleasuring phi every night lmao). nor do i think apollo necessarily looks down on “no strings attached” type of relationships but thats the point — it’s no strings attached so no one is supposed to get hurt. apollo definitely views sex: fine to have with multiple ppl as long as everyone consents to it and you’re not in a relationship.
personally i can’t stand cheating, my family has dealt with enough instances of that already. it can really damage ppl and lower self esteem etc. however, i’m not mad at phi for thinking the way he does bc i know the circumstances of WHY that came about for him. I just hope he changes his mind once he learns what it’s actually like to be in love with someone and have that feeling of “you’re mine and i’m yours”.
