I was very amazed by the book siblings without rivalry. I bought it in hope to find appropriate answers to some hatred outbursts between kids relatives,
The book is written by a pair of mom ( Adele Faber and Elaine Mazlich) and it made up the conversation they had with other parents in parenting workshops.
Most of their books feel like parents talking about their kids, but this one was very much parents talking about their own siblings and their long lasting lasting trauma from their painful relationships with their brethren.
This is huge. The book is an amazing read to sort out these issues, both as parents or grown siblings. It’s good if you ever need to care for a group of people in a way ( nvc methods work with grownups too)
It’s filled with with practices that are so different from how most of us have been raised. Among them, it shows to do better than playing cop in kids conflicts, which is both exhausting and often raising deeper grudges ( unfairness). It also shows how comparing children or casting them in a role can be immensely destructive., followed by a bunch of way to tackle situations, it’s at least a good challenge to pick up (it’s hard to change habits)
