Reading the backstory chapters is making my week WORSE. Seeing the innocent kid he was compared to the deranged rapist he is now is shocking. Seeing how Jiwook destroyed his mind, his body, and his future with his abuse hurts so bad. Obv Jiwook doesn’t remember any of it but he ruined that boy for love FOREVER. And imo his actions aren’t driven entirely by hate like some ppl think. You can see it a little in the occasional nonviolent interactions he has with Jiwook. Juyeon’s still mourning the love he had for him. (Which is a little hard to see because he’s almost never not raping that man.) But he does outright say in one of the chapters that he wanted to make Jiwook fall for him and unable to live without him.
I still have a fuck ton of complaints about the story but the way it has me flipping back and forth between hating and feeling sorry for the characters is kinda tea.
