Just feel the need to vent:

Antis think that every piece of media needs to cater to their own personal tastes. But I have sad news :( the world doesn’t revolve around you antis :((( I know it’s shocking… different people have different tastes in drawings and art :( I know…. It’s hard to swallow. :(((( and even more than that… everyone has their preferences and imagination :( and consumes and creates stories like human beings have been doing throughout history :( it’s called being creative and enjoying life. I know :((( it’s hard to understand that not everyone has the same brain as you.

But I hope that in the future when you are enjoying a conversation with someone and you say you like something you just read/watched and they give you a shocked judgmental face because they think that book/movie/etc is the worst thing ever, that you realize that what you like and what others like CAN and WILL be different. And that’s ok. And that policing the creative works of people to such a degree is harmful to society and our actual FREEDOM of sexual expression.

No one is dying in real life because I read a chapter on two made up drawings of step brothers making sweet love to each other. No one is losing their home in real life because the author drew a continuation for a cute comic. No one in real life is losing dinner and starving tonight because this site uploads a comic that doesn’t fit your tastes. Reflect on your actions.

It’s okay not to have a preference for something. It is ok to NOT like something. But it is not okay to police and attack the author or the audience that reads and enjoys it. That is not your job and it is so harmful. So many people are afraid to comment that they like something because antis are so loud and aggressive. Think about how attacking IRL people over things that don’t even matter is so damaging. People play gory video games, watch violent movies, and listen to intense music and you have probably learned that it’s not your place to control others.

You probably have a hobby or interest or favorite fanfic that isn’t 100% holy, and that’s ok. You don’t have to be ashamed. It doesn’t define you as a person.

What does define you are your actions to others who are different and have different tastes. Would you tell your friend in real life that them liking a problematic music artist makes them an awful person and that they should suffer for liking them? In that moment I think you’d tone it down. You’d be like “it sucks they like them but I value my friend and it doesn’t define them as a person” right?

I just want antis to think deeper on what their root fear is. And to understand the REAL harm they cause for being so vocal and loud on things that don’t matter. And can’t control. All you can control. Is yourself. And how things that aren’t about you, are taken very personally.

Ending this by saying. I get the intent. But the reality is not what you think it is. And what you want to happen. There will always be stories on step brothers finding love with each other. Or even straight up porn where they just fuck. And that’s ok. You can just move on and find something you do like. Or understand that perhaps it’s not that deep and read the story and enjoy it for what it is. Art and romantic and sexual expression. Someone took hours and hours to think of and create a beautifully drawn comic. It could be the stupidest story ever. But people took time to make this. If you spent weeks or months or even years on something, wouldn’t you want people to take it for what it is? Instead of judging you and completely dismissing everything you did?

Let’s be better. Let’s not ruin creativity in art and fandom. Let’s realize I am my own being. And I make decisions for myself. I control myself. I am my own person.
