He's obviously overcompensating for his insecurities by being cocky and arrogant. He's obsessed with his weight and i guess it's very common people who have a drastic glowup to look down on plain or ugly looking people (like the ML sometimes mocks the FL) because they desperately want their hard work aka the glow up to be recognized.
