This story is so deeply unserious. It's not a bad concept but it's not executed very well so far. It'd need to be SUPER slow burn -- Yuha's dealing with someone who a) isn't gay b) was married to his sister/saw him as literal family and c) is still grieving. It's definitely played off as just being a setup for smut, like they're rushing to get to the seggs, so Yuha is being really creepy and crossing boundaries constantly. Though tbh Hyunseo is deeply in denial and not very self-aware. It's kind of a letdown because it could have been really interesting if done with more care. But I guess it is what it is.
Exactly!
And let me add that it would've been waaayy better if they looked more mature, given the fact that they're both adult men who are in a smutty manhwa
And while reading your comment I was thinking that it would've been perfect if the author of Miscreants and Mayhem created this plot in their own style
Honestly, I came to drop this and your comment caught my attention
AAAAAA I can't with this story it was SO GOOD. There were a couple questionable parts and of course it was heart-wrenching but the angst/drama at least made sense in the context of the characters' motivations and it was well written. It wasn't like, Drama for Drama's sake. Ahjuicy worship bandwagon.
Firstly and most importantly I would die and kill to protect Youngjin's smile. (me and Seunghyun both)
That out of the way.
Secondly, it can't be understated how good this is. Just the right amount of drama/angst, a MC who isn't a total pushover, and a ML who is ruthless -but only against the people who deserve it-. His gentle protectiveness over Youngjin and the trust between them is SO refreshing. The art is spectacular, the overall intrigue was well done, the smut is good, even the side characters are memorable, and S3 being literally nothing but fluff just healed my soul.
My only issues with this manhwa are mostly nitpicky. It starts out slow so if you're confused, stick with it. Most questions get answered by the end. I wished there was more solid worldbuilding about some of the scifi aspects of things (nanobots just thrown in there huh, and why can Youngjin's ace in the hole levitate things??), the reveal of what the 'item' was was honestly a bit underwhelming, but I get that a lot of those things are probably just due to the stricture of time and chapter/season length.
Seriously though, a must-read.
I love that the more this manhwa goes on, the more we start to see Youngchan break down. The way he was acting was just a front, and the more you put up a false front, the more it eats away at you. In this latest chapter it's really interesting how he's talking about Hyunsoo finally being vulnerable with him (omg this artist, the way Hyunsoo arched up in the bathtub was so fucking hot), but in a way it sort of echoes back, vulnerability calling to vulnerability, so we're seeing Youngchan starting to lose his ability to put up his front around someone who feels totally comfortable with him. I think we're heading into some Drama bc lemme tell you from experience when someone gets past the front, it can trigger a whole legion of emotions that can be really hard to deal with. But I feel like as Youngchan breaks down, Hyunsoo will be there to pick him up, and the fluff at the end will be well worth it.
