Would you date someone really religious and who might not accept the fact that you are bisexual? (Even though you like him and he, for now, is interested in you and does NOT know about your sexuality?)
*and does NOT know about your sexuality?)
No, I wouldn't personally and I am bisexual. but there is a possibility that he could be accepting maybe? Asking him directly would be the only way to truly know how he would treat you. And if he's disrespectful honestly you WILL be able to find someone better.
Personally, I wouldn't just for being really religious. For the second part, I've (briefly) dated a guy who couldn't comprehend why I needed to be friends with other LGBT people, esp. other bi people if I was in a "straight" relationship (as if my sexuality changes depending on the gender ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭ ). So if you're the same as me, you're better off coming out.
Hey, thanks for answering!!
Actually, he is the brother of my friends, so if I told him, I'd probably be telling as well to my ultra-conservative, childhood friend as well....and then that would be another can of worms haha but that might be the best to truly know after all
My biggest concern is if he decides to tell me that he would date me but there's no need to tell people I'm bisexual or something. That would be truly disappointing
Yeah, that's sucks, that's pretty much one of my biggest concerns, when I decide to get out the closet, I don't want to get back just because of a relationship.
Thanks for answering!!
In my own honest opinion, give it a chance and try dating him. Maybe he will accept it unconditionally. But if he turns out to be kind of homophobic along the way, then just turn him down and leave (but of course explain to him why). Good luck!
I would give it a chance, but I would try to ask him his opinion on LGBT people as early as I can, too, and if it turns out he's not accepting then I wouldn't keep going out with him. Too many people in the world who can love you for all of you to settle for one who won't.
I can understand your situation.
I´m bisexual, currently having a crush on another girl.
My brother-in-law and me are getting along very well. But he is religious and homophobic. I know that he is actually nice and that he is homophobic, because his family/ancestors/country taught him to be like that.
I don´t know how he would react, if I´d have a relationship with another girl.
But I´m kinda single and I don´t plan to tell him that I´m bisexual.
Generally I wouldn´t date religious people. I don´t understand how people are able to blindly follow rules without questioning them.
And I wouldn´t date people who discriminate other people. My moral values are more important than some possible feelings of love.
To your situation:
Ask him casually what he thinks about LGBT people. And then you see if you like his answer or not.
And if you feel the need of coming out, make sure to have someone supporting you.
