Yeah, sorry, but that's the sort of kitschy schmalz I hope we'll never see on Viewfinder. ;) That whole "holding his hand by the hospital bed while XYZ is in a coma, telling him in a desperate voice to "wake up! I love you!". No. Just... no. That is as cliché as it gets. That is flat. Empty. Done to death.

Whereas that one picture of Asami and Akihito in the latest chapter? Asami's hand on Akihito's hair? Akihito's hand touching Asami's upper arm? That LOOK between them? That look conveys a world of emotions, hopes, and pain. That look is the reason why I never want them to do cheesy "I love you's". Because that look is stronger than any words could be between these two. I don't need to hear it. Not from them.

wouldn't Asami just tell him to get the f* up if he doesn't want to be left behind...? ^^ (I can't imagine Asami being any more romantic OR straightforward than this ^^ - but that might just be me)

Essentially, for me it goes as far as Asami showing he cares (like the "you brat!" and the hair ruffle in the last chapter) - while still being very much Asami. And throughout the years sensei has always done a very good job at keeping him in balance and in character that way whilst still conveying that there are mutual feelings involved between these two.

very true.. i do find it satisfying seeing slight inklings of affection coming from Asami .. like the kiss on the head or certain looks.. its just adorbs :)

I'd imagine that in a comedic version of it, but if we wanna be realistic (and romantic) I'd imagine Asami telling him more that he's not allowed to die because Akihito belongs to him and only he's allowed to determine when he dies. X'D

I follow viewfinder because it's not that like. I think the manga would lose its uniqueness and part of what it sets it apart from the rest if it started to follow a storyline like that.

Right? And honestly, why would you need "I love you's" when we get lines like "Don't toss my heart around any longer" and "you'll fall to the abyss with me"? (not exact quotes but same general idea).

"It feels so good inside you" is how Asami says "I love you".

I'm thinking Asami has a couple of times said "As you wish." Is he a closet Princess Bride fan?

Also yeah, Japanese just aren't that direct, and I think Sensei does a really good job of instilling Japanese values into her characters which is also something different to a lot of other yaoi manga. It would be hard for westerners to understand, but that's just how it is so I really don't see her making her characters say a line which isn't as prized in Japanese culture as it is in Western culture. Just the way I see it.

I've always thought Asami and Westley were similar in their personalities. But that's just me (←_←)

There's an art to conveying a feeling without words. It's those little gestures Asami makes from time to time that get me.

I just can't deal with how amazing this manga is the story line the art the cliffhangers.. The characters .. Everything is just so well done ... I could re read this so many times.. I'm so happy this manga exists (▰˘◡˘▰)
