She can only take victory wherever she can since no one was willing to give her proper justice. I guess that's why Kuroda acquired an illness and why Tooru can never get rid of his guilt. After all, these two never really did own up to what they did - like how Kuroda drove while drunk and Tooru allowed it, how Kuroda escaped and Tooru allowed it, how Kuroda came back without taking responsibility and Tooru allowed it. Ehh... What is responsibility and justice, right?
...apparently, they don't really matter.
1. Escaping from a murder to another country.
2. Being an accomplice by keeping quiet about it.
3. Never telling anyone, even those involved.
4. Never saying anything while being called admirable for doing "selfless" things like raising someone else's kid when in fact, it's the kid of someone they killed.
5. Never saying anything to deny things like "being pushed down" and seeming like a victim, when in fact it was at that moment that his past sins were uncovered.
5. Having the chance to but never letting the perpetrator take responsibility. Exactly why did they never go to the police about the hit-and-run incident even after knowing who the culprit was?
6. Always taking advantage of someone's guilt out of love.
7. Never confessing when doing so might have lessened the burden on the other person.

P.S.: Anyone who says Tooru is innocent and has suffered enough should realize the fact that he has witnessed a murder of a mother, watched as the killer drove away, and then kept quiet for so many years about it. And when the killer came back and kidnapped Katsuya, wasn't it a perfect time to call the police and at least take a little responsibility for things?

I completely agree. Ppl are saying this is a beautiful story but tbh if he loved katsuya that much(at least in present time) he would've reported karoda this time around. Last time, he was in love with the guy, which, while not an excuse, gives him a reason. This time karoda tried to kill katsuya and he still didn't say anything. Wow. How selfish. And then, he never confesses his mutual love and leads katsuya into thinking their fucking out of guilt for TWO years. And still, to this day(as of recent extras) Tooru has not confessed back. Just...wow. What a bullshit uke.

Being a realist, I agree with you guys. Tooru is guilty as the accomplice bylaw again and over again. If the first time he couldn't fix it or not in time, he has a chance the second time but chose to ignore the laws regarding someone died and attempted murder. The whole story it's more like he protects himself not less than protects Kuroda. The first time accident occurred, if he chose to protect Kuroda, not telling the police, he did worse thing by adopting Katsuya out of guilt. If someone else adopted him, it might lead Katsuya to different path of life or better. This is my view as the parent. For Tooru to adopt Katsuya, I don't see it's a good deed but to trap Katsuya with him to relieve his own guilt, and to protect the one he loves, Kuroda, at the time and himself. The pure and only victim all the way here is Katsuya. Fiction, I can't see the story beautiful. The uke got brickbrain or something. The manga is longer than many out there, but saying the uke loves Katsuya at the end, not convincing at all since the feeling of guilt has dominated his kindness to Katsuya for many years.

When the first seme first smiled, I knew it - he had the makings of a jerk. And I was right! He was indeed a first class asshole. Not that I can't relate to his uke, though I do think he was being stupid some (most) times. In fact, tbh, even though that seme's completely garbage, he's still my type; not his trashy self but everything attractive behind it, like, the confidence bordering on arrogance, the intelligence to pull it off, the face (mmhm, definitely the face), and maybe more of the face especially around the eyes and the smile. Yeah. Hmm. And I might get dislikes for this insensitive and materialistic comment but I bet there are people like me out there who likes his face too much even though he's shit.

I am very sorry for letting this out but honestly, the uke's character was made out to be too weak that I was so disgusted to the point I felt like literally throwing up. Oh man, and I left hetero romances in order not to see this. Just like the seme said, the uke was afraid of getting hurt but he can't put in the effort to change, moreover he's also very self-absorbed and selfish and he never thinks how much his words could hurt the seme; not only that but he also seems to like the seme's girl version more than the real one which is fine since the seme seems to also like the girl version of himself better, I just wanted to point how his obviously disappointed face everytime the seme is not in drag is absolutely disappointing, too. After only one night and one fight with the seme though, he seemed to have magically found his answer in himself and that would have been fine, really, but!!! We've been made to see a better partner, almost perfect even, in one of the best friends, namely Mifune, and the uke, even though, he's improved so much, now feels all the more lacking and disappointing.
Though, maybe that's the whole sense of this story? I wouldn't know because this is just my own selfish thoughts.
I'll just satisfy myself in thinking that Mifune and Subaru could be good together; even though Subaru is also a meh, for going behind his friend's back, trying to destroy someone else's relationship. Yes, I know he was doing it for Satoi's sake but, ehh, it still leaves a bad afertaste and besides, Satoi's too far gone and can't be saved. *sigh* So, now I remember Mifune was actually there but also kept it a secret from Satoi, so there's the almost-perfect-guy label going flush down the drain. *sigh*
