Why do 20 yr old shous(bottoms) in every other (modern)chinese manga/novel get treated like a 5 year old kid, while the gong(top) is like 30 yrs old

Prob to make them seem cuter, cute characters sell in Asia. And probably because bottoms are usually written as weaker and in need of protection so there's that
