I know how you feel but there are still people here who want to discuss the plot. I got information from Twitter that season 2 will end in less than 10 chapters (from raw chapter count) and it's possible that Ian will appear in season 3. So if you can't stand season 2, please stop reading it for a while!
People can still discuss the plot though, and I think it’s reasonable to complain. Besides, there’s a chance that the damn flashback will continue in the third season. The flashback is going nowhere, so I expect it.
Yes, I really understand the feeling of being annoyed because the flashback is too long. But there's no harm in stopping reading for a while rather than complaining repeatedly (which the author doesn't even read). I'm one of those people who wants this flashback to end as soon as possible, but instead of complaining, I'd rather save my energy by drop it for a while, and read again when Ian's back. I'm just giving advice tho, so that we don't look annoying.
I just read this manga after watching the last episode. It's been a long time since I've been this enthusiastic about reading fantasy manga with female MC. I love you frieren!
Just wanna say, it's really funny that the Reincarnation plot is what made me start reading this manhwa. And the biggest factor is because I was captivated by Brian's blue hair during season 1. How I used to look forward to Brian's backstory more than anything. But now look at me, being the Ian's biggest simp and just realizing how good this story is when he was the main character. Well, we appreciate things when we lose them. Okay then, I'll stop reading this manhwa until the flashback is finished
I've saved a few chapters and I'm grateful that the story has gotten to the exciting part (Lorkan meets Soleite and Brian) but no offense, I cringed soo bad at Brian in the latest chapter...that "main character" ahh dialogue

I believe most of the people here actually don't mind the "slowburn" and political problems in season 2, since if you pay attention, that already happened in season 1. The problem is that the flashbacks are too sudden. This is what many people are disappointed with, it's a shame that even though season 1 was very good, season 2 feels a bit odd. It would be better if the flashback was delivered by Ian himself (for example, he gets a memory of his past, then we enter the flashback arc). So it's not surprising that many readers complain about season 2, it's something that can't be helped. Even the author should have seen it coming.
I'm a big fan of Haejin-nim's work, after the end of season 1 I was really looking forward to season 2. But I was quite disappointed with the storytelling. It's a shame that Eternal Covenant, a work that I really like, lost a lot of readers because of this...like...it could have been better, you know?
My point is... people are free to have opinions, whether you like season 2 or not is up to you. But don't be salty with people who have different opinions from you. as long as the opinion does not hurt anyone. and hey! You know what, criticism of a work is allowed as long as it is delivered politely and doesn't hurt the author's feelings!
