They are together but they still weren't per say happy, there's a lotttt to resolve and the story, least in the novel made that clear, the emperor does feel bad and our MC tries to teach ML emotions as a "reward" system I guess? Ml also went to the village couple days in a month (I might be wrong about how many days) to pay respect (again he did kill them so ╮(￣▽￣)╭)
