I think at some point it was alluded to that his Dad was responsible for his death, maybe something to go with being trapped in a dark enclosed space as that has also been repeatedly hinted at. I think its inevitable that Yukine finds out and that he will at least partially transform but I doubt that Yato will kill him, that would be a really dark turn for this manga. Yukine will be saved one way or another.

What I wonder is how Hiyori will factor in to this (if at all) and what path she chooses or will be chosen for her.

He was murdered from his own father, and the fear of darkness might be associated with the fact that he was beeing transported to somewhere before his death, and he was trapped in a car trunk. We got glimpses many times of someone opening "the box" while smiling (?) down on Yukine. The trouble won't start until he finds his real name. I am just surprised how the gods reacted to his question- they didn't even bother to answer but rather took their shinkis out of danger so that "weird" questions wouldn't pop out of their heads too. .... What bothers me too is that Yato behaves like a stray and always leaves Yukine alone, and then everytime trouble happens.... Yukine is in more danger than ever before, he met Nora/Chiki/Mizuchi or whatever her name and she already inflicted doubt in him....
Welp, I wish the updates would be faster. I am dead.

Why can't the gods be truthful about the danger Yukine is putting himself in, why can't they say, knowledge of your life and death will cause your death as a shinki, it would be in the best interest of all shinki to all have that knowledge.

I think he will learn his name but will be fine, couse they said there is a chance of not someting happening ı think mentioned while explaning what happens if he finds his name
I think ıt would be like the time when yukine shattered but come back as two hand sword, I feel like he will level up~!
And I think It will have someting to do with hiyori couse of the way a lot of things go on we a lot of times forget that Hiyori is the main character, she gotta have more to do then just be there Im sure

I think it is established early on as a divine rule of god/shinki relationship. Bringing it up at all (even to explain) reveals The Secret and therefore makes it not a secret anymore. If you remember a few chaps ago, Yukine's symbol started to crack. The reason all the other gods are avoidig him is because it actually IS an infection. Explained well in the backstory of Yato back when he had that secret extra shinki. Its not a matter ofnjust divulgininfo, but we're supposed to understand it as a strict 'law of nature' in the Noragami universe.

well Thanks for the reminder, I read that and a million other stories since so it was not something I remembered well. It just disappoints me that we have a storyline which seems like somehow our beloved character Yukine could have been protected from, he is a blessed vessel and I thought he could have been protected from something harmful. Knowledge of one's past and death seems like a pretty common thing to want knowledge about. But if this is an infection that prevents him from even having contact with Daikoku and Kofuku whose home his is staying in .. and now they have to take off because he could infect Daikoku? That is just heartbreaking to me! This story is so dark and sad now, it kills me.
