Yaoi is way worse then yuri. Sure yaoi does have the occasional really good and healthy stories but I’ve seen a lot of rapey, pedophilic, and incest yaoi mangs and believe me there is a BUNCH of them. Way more then yuri. (Even worse if you were to go to the website “Myreadingmanga”) But truthfully you probably just read the bad one cause there is a bunch of healthy yuri manga. I could even recommend some! As for the age gap thing it’s probably because of the author country. Just like how you said the age of consent in your country is 15 the age of consent in japan (at least i think the author of this manga is from japan) is 13. Truthfully I didn’t like the age gap either but I understood that it’s normal for different countries. The age of consent in my country is 18 which is what I’m used to.
Before mariage was seen more as an economical/political union tather than one of love. Interestingly enough it was common that booth spouses cheated (due to the bastards weren't viewed as heirs).
