It's very tragic to learn that the author of the original story has died. May they rest in peace. However, it's very nice to know that we have a sequel. It's not often that you remember stories, especially when they're not the best quality and without a clear rationale, but there was something about this one that caught my attention. To sum it up: hooray, a sequel, I'm excited.

Since this story is very deeply written in psychology, it is very difficult NOT to sympathize with the characters.
This particular guy is a fantastically unhappy person, and I sincerely feel sorry for him. Yes, his methods were super-bastardly, yes, he did stupid things. But I still feel sorry for him - everyone wants to be loved. Loved just like that, for nothing. Without conditions. And I always feel terribly sorry for lonely people who were never able to receive such love.
