i think the art is pretty but idk there’s something bothering me. like someone said before the situation felt kinda more serious in the novel than here. in the novel we could really feel the jian suying’s frustration and sadness while here… well
I agree. I simply love this novel for Jian Suying. The anger, frustration, sadness, angst everything feels so real in the novel.
Yes that’s why I would recommend everyone to read a novel rather than Manhwa to understand the characters better. Jian Suiying is pretty much flawed but his flaws make him an interesting and humane character. The anger, the angst, the dialogue of the novels are on point and SQC writes her characters realistic.

I read the novels before manhua, novels are 10x better because there's a lot of scenes there that aren't included in the manhua
i do the same but i always read like 1 or 2 chapters of the manhua before just to see what are the characters looking like
To be fair I read the novel like years ago before manhua came out and the characters’ art style is exactly the same as how I imagined them to be. Especially Suiying is exactly like how I imagine him to be. The art is gorgeous so it’s best to read both manhua and novel.
i totally agree with you. wished i would’ve known about this novel years ago !! i’m going to be honest jian suying and li yu grown on me so much, i love how they bring out the worst in each other (so if you happen to have any novels with a similar dynamic pls let me know )
I would recommend a novel named love late (not exactly like this novel but main characters have similar dynamics). I really love how Suiying really brings out the worst side of Liyu. He was always rational and calm normally but when it comes to Suiying he’s a total idiot and train wreck.
