i love that isabella's parents are still significant figures in her life. i do love a good childcare story where the mc gets a new, better parent, but i also love when characters get closer for the parents they lost. too often, the dead parents are forgotten and all but replaced with the new caretaker. idk, i just appreciate it a lot ╮(￣▽￣)╭

i reread this every once in a while and ohhhhh boy. it always hits just as hard. can we agree that chapter 36 is literally chilling?? the colours, the style, the expressions???? it absolutely wrecks me every time. this story is far from perfect but that chapter genuinely lives in my head
