shindou being asexual and having a sexless relationship with a former sexbot... i know that it rightfully makes some people uncomfortable, but i was actually really surprised at how this story tackled unique concepts and darker themes. from a literary perspective, its actually really good. the dynamics between shindou and toshio, and even shindou and his uncle/supervisor/that weird colleague were interesting to read and dissect. i'm a fan of science fiction that tackles disturbing themes while still having a fairly lighthearted vibe, so i really enjoyed this story.
