Jaekyung's family or his past might have something to do with su/cide by walking into the sea (or a tragic accident involving the sea), and he couldn't save that person/family. Basically it's LTIT all over again LMFAO
And maybe he was from a poor family or was a weak person himself and he was bullied or getting picked on by some street thugs and that's why he chose to be a wrestler or something because stronk = powerful = people won't bug him and now that he's rich that also means he's powerful = there's nothing in the world that he can't do = he won't need anyone to depend on/attach to.
To which I understand why he became a horrible person (NOT excusing his horrible actions), and this is becoming a cliche plot engine where the ML is a mean mean person until something similar of his past is happening again in the present and suddenly his hot n cold demeanor melts away because he finally shows some concern for the other person. And then he's back at being the mean person again. Like cmon
