The plot is very much trying to be scary(?) and make you question the situation/characters but I'm honestly no better than the Fl and my brain was empty as I was reading this so I often found myself actually laughing at either said situation or at the Fl reaction

The author literally read the decent isekai/reincarnated/historical manga where the shitty ex wrongfully dumps the Fl, misunderstood the assignment, and gave him the redemption ark with no actual improvement and the Fl a sure short life filled with worries and headaches
