Ines picked him because she believed he would be a cheater. This whole story would kinda be in shambles without it? If Carcel was a perfect husband during engagement and marriage, Ines would never be able to get wish to divorce. Then this story would just be a boring arranged marriage with no plot or tension.

That's more the the reason I find it weird that carcel just changed after marriage... wouldn't it be more logical if he didn't change even after marriage?

I think he's taking into account, his family and his own reputation. And that, he himself admitted it that he was in love with Inez since young (he didn't know that before but he realized it now) but clearly Inez wasn't that much interested in him despite choosing him. He even asked why she chose him because of that but Inez said, no, I like you, and that's all you need to know (Wasn't the exact words I think but it was in that context). This revelation probably made him confused coupled with him going through puberty and adolescence, and probably because Inez slightly manipulated him, I say slightly cause Inez didn't rlly manipulate him however her words had influence on him. That's probably why he spent denying everything and just winging everything, doing stupid things because he didn't really think it through. It's those thing you do when you're young and you don't know better so of course you do something you will eventually regret in the future.

I don't know where it says in this version but in the novel, Carcel said he only cheated in hope that Ines would notice him cause he loves ines and always wants her attention. This was during Ines's depression stage, and before that she had basically spammed Carcel with love letters.

He stopped cheating because he found out it had 0 affect on her and now that they are married, she basically has to give him attention. Ines hasn't realised that Carcel loves her and wants her attention, she just thinks that he's a player.

He didn't just change after marriage. Even before they marry, he knew he would stop after he marry. Ines doesn't know that so she's fine sticking with him bc she thought he would continue.

Go reread the beginning. He knew he'll stop and he was only doing it before marriage. It's manipulation bc she picked him thinking he's a player at 6 and had been plotting it for 17 years. But, wasn't the part where he visited her was when she was bedridden??? I do think she made him run circle but in this case, I think it was unintentional. Inez didn't like showing her weakness, so it was natural that during the time when her illness frequented the most, he would be turned away at the door??

Nah he had literally said that after marriage he would stop cheating point blankly, it isnt illogical bc that was hos logic, he was doing it to get some short of freedom.

Right. Tbh I already realized after I wrote that comment, that I am stupidly defending Inez here. It was intentional but I never rlly wanted anyone to call Inez a manipulator.

It's hard to face reality, ah. I rlly liked Inez despite that personality of hers. And now that you mention that, and I think about it, Inez rlly did a lot more wrong but I think I'll still like her. Idk why I do but I do. That's probably why I vehemently defend her when it comes to comments like that. Though, it's not like I'm saying she's innocent. She's not. Clearly.

I mean I get you since I'm the same with Carcel. But that's the thing Carcel and Ines isnt 100% good or bad in this and nobody (but the prince fck the prince) sins are being weigh against eachother. The characters all are moral gray. (Again instead of the prince fck him hes just choatic evil) It's just a bittersweet dramatic romance that's meant to get our blood racing and hope up.
