Concept is uhh not great, very toxic, BUT THE ART AND PANELING IS SOO GORGEOUS. Love when comics play with perspective and angles and breaking panel boxes .

Basically before they go back to America, it seems like they’re getting closer, but like Akira wants Al to stay in America because it would be better for him, Al does not want this at all. Like a couple days before the flight back, they sleep together and everything seems to be alright between them. Al is frozen (because that’s how he’s able to not transform on the flight) but while he’s frozen IT TURNS OUT AKIRA LEFT WITHOUT HIM off to Japan. Then it’s said that the reason why Akira slept with him was more for like appeasement or guilt because he had always planned to leave without him. LIKE WHAT. WTF. The novel then spends a super long time describing Akira’s whole life story which is just trauma and loneliness. THE NOVEL HAS YET TO RETURN TO THE PRESENT.
The whole hijacked airplane arc, which is about to be in the manga, was pretty exciting tho so look forward to that
