i think u guys r forgetting something, joon-hwi's only close family right now is seok-hyun, as in hes the only one that he trusts enough as a loved one because he lost his parents in an accident and seok-hyun was the only one there for him in that situation. hes clearly mentally unstable and he doesnt want to lose the only person left in his life. he probably thinks that its better for seok-hyun to dislike him rather than to be despised & disgusted by him.
