I'm so used to these female centric reincarnated into a book/game stories dealing with the FMC being the one to propose marriage to the ML that it's amazing to find one where the guy is the one to be like "marry me!" ... of course the circumstances are a tad, what's the word, threatening? But then again, I've read yaoi, this isn't nearly as bad as some of those.
I'm not sure why, but it bothers me when the first night is ignored in these kinds of stories. Like, marriages weren't considered binding unless the first night had happened!! I'm always happy whenever a story following this premise (contract marriage/engagement) actually follows through with the first night. I don't need anything terribly graphic, just an acknowledgment of it happening. I love many stories without the first night, don't get me wrong. It just always bugs me when we get the "shy virgin" act from EVERY female lead... like what did you think marriage was going to entail? Sorry, weird rant. But, yay, first night!!

You also have to think about the time period this is in. Back then it was the mens job to lead a woman in sex especially if they where virgins since sex education wasn’t give to women I believe. Shy virgins for fl are common because most female leads are essentially pure but sometimes it cant be quite a drag ╮(￣▽￣)╭

Ikr? If there wasn't a first night, the marriage could be annulled. It was unsafe to skip it. On the other hand, once you had your first night, the woman's worth plummeted as an individual. Unless they forever stayed with their husband, it was difficult for them to get remarried.
I honestly feel like it makes sense in these stories because most of them marry with intent to divorce in the future (which is already kinda unrealistic and would have made her seem undesirable) which is why she would have especially needed to keep her virginity or she wouldn’t be able to find a new husband personally I also just find it predatory if they’re in a strict contract relationship with no love and then he expect her to still have sex with him but also no desire to take care of her future
That doesn't mean that women didn't initate/desire sex back then, it just means it was looked down upon to do so. I agree tho pure flesh are an overplayed trope.

So, I kind of half wish that Lucia couldn't be cured of her infertility. There are a lot of women out there who can never have children, and it would be nice to see Lucia find peace, happiness, and love with her adopted child and realize she doesn't need her own flesh and blood child to achieve that. BUT, I know that's not how this is goin to go. She obviously cares for Damien, but it's also obvious she's going to get pregnant by the end of the story.
I think the reason why was because of her dreams about the old count and their possible abusive marriage. She was young, immature, scared and traumatizes. If I was in her position I would also have the thoughts about infertility and what will the possible future of the child, terrified and scattered inside.
I know the reason why. That's not what this post is about. I merely stated that I kind of wish her "infertility" wasn't curable. Part of the reason for their marriage was that she can't have kids. It just feels like a copout to say "Oh, I can cure myself whenever!" A part of me wishes that she'd learn to find happiness as a mother with Damien, and not require a child of her own womb to get that feeling.
Oh I get it, apart from it was the bloodline of the lords. If no one, apart from Damien, is born. Then their line will be at risk in the future. But I still understand your conclusions. They will be lovely together, all three of them.

I'm guessing none of you have gone a long time without sleep. Look up the symptoms of sleep deprivation. He was CURSED to NEVER SLEEP. You know what not sleeping does to you? I'm not saying he's dissolved of his crimes now that he's becoming more stable, but maybe THINK. Two big symptoms of lack of sleep, mood swings and poor/risky decision making. He literally wasn't in his right mind while he was a "blood thirsty" tyrant. Again, not saying that absolves him of anything, but it definitely puts things in a more sympathetic light. Also, he's an Emperor, so he's technically the law in his empire. His word is LAW, so from that standpoint he's guiltless (I don't agree with this idea, but it is historically how things worked).
EXACTLY. It doesn’t excuse his actions, but it does help give perspective and reasoning to why he made those decisions in the first place.
It’s an unfortunate situation for both sides (the emperor, and the people who fell victim to his tyranny) and we can feel sympathetic for him because we know that he probably would’ve done things differently had he been in his right mind. We can be both sympathetic for him while also holding him accountable for his actions.
The emperor himself is a victim because he was cursed by the witch which led to him losing his sanity which led to him making irrational decisions and killing people (if anything i think the witch should take more of the blame than him for creating this situation, in my humble opinion)
This is great! Just binged the 19 chapters and wow it's hilarious! The plot is pretty standard, end the time loop, but the pacing the art everything makes it comedy gold! It's so chaotic. It's the best!
