I have this thought that there are a lot of BL comics that are toxic and dramatic for no reason other than readers liking drama. I think this comic is quite different and doing something kind of complex. Heesuh actually loves Jinmoo and always has, but he doesn’t have the self awareness to realize it. He’s spent his life numbing himself and partying and being around people he doesn’t like. The only time he’s genuinely happy is when he’s being taken care of by Jinmoo and indulging Jinmoo’s boring stories, etc, in return. They’re actually really good together! Sub top and dom bottom match made in heaven! But Heesuh can’t shake off societal expectations and it leads to really destructive self-denial, not just self-denial but a horrible, baked in self-punishment that ends up hurting Jinmoo, as well.
It’s not just dramatic nonsense for no reason. There’s something honest and painful and very queer about Heesuh’s behavior. He’s lashing out and being self-destructive because he doesn’t have a roadmap for how to be himself, his actual self that’s loved Jinmoo since high school. That is some REAL QUEER SHIT.
(I dunno if this comic is written by some straight lady like most of them are lollllll It feels real anyway)
