Wow, your one comment gave a name to something I've been experiencing for so many years. I often spends hours each day just dreaming of an amazing life or world. I hate it so much because it's like I'm stuck in a VR while my real life slowly wastes away.

yeah. I had it really bad for about 4 years where i’d be daydreaming for 10-12 hours a day. I managed to make it wayyyyyy lesser now tho and im very proud of myself for that how is urs?

Mine's getting worser and uncontrollable can you tell me how you daydream lesser

Smth that really helped me was assigning myself a time to day dreaming. The main trick is to absolutely not day dream first thing in the morning. So initially I decided that I wont start day dreaming till 11 am and that I’d be productive till then. Then when I got comfortable doing that, I made that timing 12 pm after a few weeks, and so on. Now, doing this over a year, I only start day dreaming after 7 pm. I got rid of the guilt as well. Now the day dreaming feels like a reward after being productive the whole day.
Obviously, some days are way worse than others. On some days, I go back to my day old ways and day dream the entire day. But what keeps me going is that on many days I’m able to get stuff done.

I experimented here and there, and realized that when I start day dreaming, it becomes almost impossible for me to stop. So things like “Imma day dream till 3 pm” never worked.

This was my personal experience. You may find more discussions on youtube that can be helpful.
Keep experimenting on how you can overcome this. It takes time, but it’ll work out for sure. There was a time when I thought that I would never be able to stop this problem, but all of that seem like silly worries now.
