I’m actually torn about whether or not I’m okay with the ending. It was bittersweet to me, and something I should’ve seen coming with the buildup to it, but I guess I feel like I was expecting something else?
I will say, going from the cat in the original to the son of the god was interesting, to say the least. I don’t hate it, but I don’t love it, I guess?
I’d give it an 8/10 only because we don’t see anything done about the mother, and it’s left kinda open. Hopefully Natsuki-sensei enlightens us about any other details this sequel could have (and I’d reeeeaaaalllly wish we’d seen the original Zodiac show up more than a shadowy Kyou with Hajime, I wanted to see my babies all grown up ╥﹏╥).
I’m not a fan of age gaps when the girl is older than the guy, but in this case I am actually liking that possibility. I think they’re really cute together, and it’s slightly less cliche than if a romance was hinted between Sawa and Hajime. I think a lot of people were expecting that. Actually when Riku was first introduced, I thought he would make for a good romantic lead as well.
I remember when I first started reading this I was actually hoping something would happen with Riku. It was mostly because of a mistranslation of him saying he wanted to eat lunch with her, when it was actually about her classmate. I was so sad to find out what the actual translation was, ‘cause I’d started rooting for them lol
Wow, I saw a comment about how hot he was, but WOW, I wasn’t expecting him to be my kind of hot lmao
