one thing I loved is that their character development wasn't necessarily tied to their relationship. like as they got closer they had other stuff happening in their lives that led them to grow as individuals and THEN their relationship deepened as well, different from some mangas where mcs change because of their relationship (nothing wrong with that, but I find this situation a bit more realistic)
