6/10 It's heavy in the psychological tag, so be wary. Eric has a past ripe with abuse. While using the military to run away from part of it, he had to come back at some point. But reentering his college is dredging up old memories he'd rather forget. Can he cope with his CPTSD enough to maybe believe in another person, and possibly himself? Pretty artwork, steady pacing. Quick read.

I'm kinda stuck on the fact that he was his grandpa in another life. . .
I'm gonna read it anyway, but that keeps floating into my brain and making me gag a little.

So Jw gave him the hickey and SH fingered his mouth. Very obvious. Although, I could see SH doing both but JW saw the hickey business and hot curious.

You know, I had a boyfriend once with the last name Prince. He was as handsome as one toom dirty blind hair, swimmers build, green eyes and a killer smile. Don't know how I snagged that one. Better friend than boyfriend and I regret the loss of the friendship because we dated. . Anyway, Yoojun reminds me of him in a way. Arrogant, cocksure, selfish and a coward.
So he forced me to go to his family 's for Xmas. Not that I didn't like his family or had plans with mine, but we hadn't even dated for a year and it was out of my comfort zone. He practically ignored me the whole time. I was dirt poor to the point where I couldn't feed myself some days. I had been able to scrimp and save and hide money from my stealing mother enough to buy him an expensive watch. I wrote "hoping that you'll think of me all the time" on the card. So much cheese. . .Anyway. I didn't get jack squat from him. Not even a card. And you know what happened? Literally the 26th he and I were messaging on FB while he was at work and he told me he wanted to break up. And then a week later he had the audacity to ask to be friends w/benefits...............I did agree, but we only slept together twice after that before it was just too weird. I felt so dirty and used even though it was my choice. This is how Yoojun makes me feel. No shower will ever wash away that kind of grime. ┗( T﹏T )┛

While it is predictable in the way they're coming back together, especially with Kwon's entanglements (been typical kdrama stuff since early 2000s), what really bothers me is the fact that they all use "mr" and the full name. I get that that's very typical of Korean culture, but I'm actually surprised they didn't change that for the English translations. Just an annoyance though. I'm glad they're getting back together and nothing insane happened.

Meru21 created a topic of Yours to Claim

Pretty realistic in a sense. Removing the supernatural side of it, the emotions, the back and forth, the drama is very realistic. How Jooin handled it was also pretty normal for someone going through a first love with low self-esteem who doesn't know what they want out of a relationship. Yawhi, too. He has to come to terms with himself in a lot of ways and sometimes the only way to do that is to lose something precious to you to realize that youneed to mature emotionally before you can even try to be with someone else.
I've been more "team everyone needs to spend some serious time learning about themselves" throughout this whole debacle. I still think Jooin needs to do some soul searching. It's great that he realizes that he's been so fickle and why, and that he finally realizes what he wants out of a relationship, what he's willing and not willing to compromise with. But now he needs to spend time getting comfortable with that information, learning to love himself and growing that backbone everyone needs to be happy. Cain, too, I think will benefit from some time away from Jooin to learn to be happy on his own and less emotionally dependent on Jooin, because that is not healthy.
I'm a little shocked this didn't take a darker turn, like most manhwa, but I'm glad it's more of a reality check than a drama check. It hits home more that way, I think.
I'm still not a huge fan of Cain, and I seriously think Jooin and Yahwi could work after a few years of growing up away from each other, but obviously Cain is the end here. Maybe it's the way this whole thing was written, but I still feel like Cain's backstory and the whole supernatural aspect doesn't fit with the rest of the story. It seems like the author had Cain's character for a separate story altogether but used it here when people started to hate Yahwi so much. Do I dislike Cain? Not at all. I just don't think his character plot fits everything else this story had going on. It's a major disconnect. And the way this whole thing was written does not make Cain seem like a main character or contender here. He always seemed like an afterthought, the underdog (no pun intended) that everyone dismisses, and the character brought in to stir things up only to fade away at some point. A side character, basically. While every character deserves a happy ending with their MC, I certainly don't feel like Cain's character earned it in a writing sense. (Not that he as a person doesn't, but just from an objective sense as a writer his character doesn't meet the criteria of the main focus end-all guy.) It's probably just the way this was set up, the way it was focused and the overall feel of the manwha. Cain just doesn't make sense in this story. Still like him. Hope he gets his happy end, but I wish his character had been used in a separate story completely outside of this universe.

Did the artwork get worse? Continuity between panels and logistics between movements seems to be getting worse too....what happened?

Meru21 created a topic of Predator Marriage

This chapter seemed like the panels were out of order. I mean, it's not too hard to rearrange them in my head, but damn.

That poor child is caught between his parents. Wanting to be everything his mother expects him to be and wanting nothing more than his father's attention and approval. All the while, both are toxic individuals with only their pride on their minds. I feel so badly for him. He has no options, no power, and he's going to make mistakes that are irreversible and will never get him what he wants. If anything, Ray would be the best mentor for him, but he can't even have that because Jiskar is too much of an obsessed prick to allow any type of freedom or kindness to his child and Ray.... I really hope that Shirak gets a happy ending of any sort but I don't feel like this comic is going that route for anyone. Death seems to be looming overhead for everyone involved.

Meru21 created a topic of Kick Off

Not only does this story give some pretty bad advice wrapped up as supposed good advice, but the artwork is pretty bad. It does get better after season 2, don't get me wrong, but the only saving grace is the seme's face. The continuity for movements from panel to panel is really off, making a lot of the poses and overall scene really awkward. General depth and continuation of flow to where body parts would actually be had the panel been larger is severely lacking. The sotey had a good general theme, olive if it has been done a million times, but the reasoning behind the main plot point was shallow and lacked severity for the reaction. The consequence/punishment didn't match the crime, in a sense. I also have no idea what happened in the second season to the uke's mouth, but there are some scenes where it's just weird as hell. The while drawing style is quite flat, as I mentioned before about the depth. Also, the "love rival" is a throw away. The story didn't need him, he made no major impact romantically, and was completely useless. He also disappeared just as quickly as he came. I saw no point in making him seem like a bigger player in the game than what he actually was.
I mean, if you're looking for something to kill time with, sure. Read it. It has some funny moments, but nothing is wrapped up smoothly and there are many plot holes left unfulfilled. Expressions, too, are hard to decipher on the characters so that's another loss. The whole thing was rather one-note. Kind of boring and disjointed and missing something important. Like chemistry, depth and general good writing capabilities. Is what it is. You can't have every manga be a good one. This one is mediocre at best. Not terrible, not good. Just bleh.

That gave me such anxiety. Lol.
They way my hubby proposed was equally as awkward and cute though. We planned a trip to one of our favorite places and it was almost a bust because the car broke down and we had to get towed the rest of the way (about 1hr and 45 min). We had to cancel the first day's plans to get the car fixed, but ended up having a great time walking along the pier and sight seeing in the meantime. Fhe next day we were able to go our favorite spot (a relatively famous zoo) and he'd been upset all day. Like, anxious upset, not angry. I kept telling him that everything was fine and the car's fine so let's just have fun. We were sitting at an outside table. I was eating a pretzel and he had his hands buried in a bag of doritos. He literally said, "I can't take it anymore! Here!" And plopped the box on the table. I was kind of shocked and he was going on and on about how the trip wasn't going as planned, how the ring felt like a weight in his backpack and how his plans were screwed up and he couldn't remember what he was going to say to me, but would I marry him anyway. All the while, he's shoving doritos into his mouth like a nervous maniac. I kind of stared at him and then was like, "Well, sure, but can you put the chips down first and ask me properly?" He was so embarrassed. I don't even think he realized he was eating chips during the whole thing. Then he got all shy and asked me to marry him more formally and I couldn't help teasing him a little more and asked if I had to put the ring on by myself. Lol. He later found a nice spot under some trees to tell me the speech he'd prepared, since he'd calmed down. No kneeling, thankfully. But it was so cute and adorable and the redhead here reminds me of him in that aspect. It was awkward and fun and so him. Something planned and perfect couldn't compare to that ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭

Meru21 created a topic of Stigma (Doo Down)

I knew he was after Siyeon. I think Yejun is just perks, like a trophy because they're mated and that's all he cares about. Appearances mean a lot to people. It will be interesting to see how Yejun fights back (small battles mean a lot in these scenarios) and how the alpha is going to change....if he changes. God, having been in an unwinnable situation many times, I feel so bad for Yejun and Siyeon. He literally has no choice and now has to rely on the person who not only hurt him deeply but he is scared of the most. I bet it will come to a point where Yejun will break. He'll either stay as an empty shell or he will leave everything behind, even Siyeon, because it becomes too unbearable. I hope neither scenarios happen, but considering how cruel and selfish Ian is, and how little he actually cares for Yejun, I can't really see any other scenario happening. I mean, there's a small chance that his instincts will take over a little because of the bond, and he'll protect Yejun and even feel jealous, but it's only going to be because he looks at Yejun as an object. This is going to be a bumpy, sad story.

Meru21 created a topic of Into the Rose Garden

I've been reading the web-novel (because it's not a traditional novel in any respect), and I can tell you flat out that the English translation of it is very lacking. In all other languages that I've found their names are Clough Vandyke, Aeroc Teiwind and Raphiel Westport. In the English translations (which are fan done, I realize), their names are Klopp Bandyke, Aeloc Teywind and Rayfel Westport. I'm positive that whoever is translating the novel has English as a second of third language (amazing fete in and of itself) and has a habit of switching "r's" with "l's" and "f's" with "p's", which is common when translating something from or to English when the original language is Asian origin. Why? Well, because most Asian languages don't have the "f" or "l" sound. Very typical. I learned this when I took Japanese in college and Korean later.
So, although the web-novel does provide some further insight to the goings on, it's not a necessary read unless you want to read ahead. The manga is covering the main plot points and doing a good job of it. Both, however, are disjointed to some degree and lacking proper flow. Although, I do concede that the web-novel is probably disjointed because of the translations. It's a great effort, don't get me wrong, and I'm not disparaging it in any way. I am saying that the web-novel is not completely accurate for what's actually being said and even has their names wrong...it's like reading a manga on here thats been haphazardly translated via Google. Gotta read between the lines and infer a LOT. Anyway. I'll post a link to the web-novel, but try to correct at least the names in your head, because they are wrong, for certain. But make sure you thank them because it's a lot of effort to translate anything and takes a lot of time!
