As great as this manga is, I highly encourage everyone to read a little bit about King Philip II (Alex's dad) and the Diadochi, or the "Successors" of Alexander. It helps in getting a true sense of how "made" Alexander was. Yes, he was a "great" individual, but he owes a lot to his father and his generals (particularly Craterus and Perdiccas). The Diadochi Wars that followed Alex's death makes for some awesum reading, no lie. There is a reason why Iwaaki-san decided to make Eumenes the protagonist :)
Craterus is back!
Historical!-Craterus was like, the key to every single mysterious happening during Alex's reign and the Successor Wars. He was so taciturn and never left an imprint regarding his motives and feelings. You can trace almost any murder back to him... Yet history has pretty much been kind to him.
This dude was the biggest enemy of Hepatitis-- Oh, I mean Hephaistion, lover and BFF of Alex. By the end of it all, Alex loved Hephaistion, but respected Craterus the most. Craterus was the most loved general of all of Alexander's officers. And the major ancient sources had implied that Craterus was Alex's choice to temp. take over his kingdom when he died, instead of Perdiccas, but this is also shrouded in weird coincidences and mystery.
Craterus is one intriguing dude. His actions during the Diadochi Wars/Successor Wars is so very confusing. He was the best general but he died by Eumenes' hand. They were close friends and Eumenes kept Craterus' bones with him until his death.
*And till this day, historians are still scratching their heads why Eumenes chose Perdiccas out of all the generals*
