It's the low self esteem messing with her brain. Her friends are ahead of her in terms of love and relationships so she most likely thinks that hosoya is her best shot at love and that she won't get a chance like this again.

I liked it, I'm sad for ryuiji though. and the ending was a bit rushed imo. I'm glad the author got their anime adaptation hope it's not as rushed in the end (ps I loveeee the mc's dad and his constant support for his child)
