My theory is that he is the childhood friend and they fell in love with each other, hence the ring on his finger. However, maybe along the line the ocean guy (I want to say he's a mermaid because of the title) didn't know whether or not he was just simply coercing the guy to stay "in love" with him and decided to use his powers to make him forget about the relationship. So my conclusion is that everything is a misunderstanding and I am ready to cry... ┗( T﹏T )┛
Same no joke I have this theory too but for mine is probably something happened and he ask him to forget so he did and he probably get on with his life and actually either got married or engaged but the girlfriend broke up with him that is why he ended up with a large room but only he is there. Cause he did mention they always meet on the beach but this is the first time they meat so I do believe they know each other before all this which high key means they are childhood friends
