The latest chapter shows Louis finally made it back to his mansion, ignorant and alone.
maettel really embarrassed Louis and ruined his life for his own self satisfaction. I wonder if there will be character development in season 2. Let me know if you know from the novel.

Does Louis lose his job? That's horrible. I read somewhere that people only found out that Louis was pregnant because Rafael opened his big mouth. So at least that doesn't appear to be Maetel's doing.
I'm pretty sure that in chapter 39, Maetel finds out that he's the father... although it's really sh*tty of him not to tell Louis as that could have resolved some angst.
I don't agree with Maetel imprisoning Louis, but I can understand why he did. Maetel may be worried that Rafael has accomplices that will come for Louis, especially as Louis was the true target of Rafael's obsession. And Louis has shown time and time again that he takes risks that endanger him. Maetel does release Louis after Rafael is executed. Still, all of that could have been avoided if Maetel explained the full situation to Louis and just asked him to keep a low profile.
I completely agree that Maetel spread the "Louis and I are getting married" rumors. I can imagine him leaking that to the press and pressuring Louis to accept.
On another note, I think Louis' sister is horrible. She was angry that he was 5 month's pregnant out of wedlock. She didn't even ask him what happened. She cares more about the family's reputation than she does about her own brother.

I hadn't considered maettel imprisoned Louis out of fear he'd be attacked by accomplices, mostly bc he seems like a selfish, possessive asshole and rubs me the wrong way. You know I wish that prior to the ropeman reveal the other characters finished their sentences about why weyton was a better choice....but that aside i just inferred he locked him up so he could plan the wedding to take place in 10 days. Boy, he sure is confident Louis will accept his proposal whenever he makes it.
Yeah throughout chapters 42 and 43 you can see in the news headlines the conversations Sabrina has and in the conversations of the sister. Louis was retired from his position with the second knights in one of the articles. The papers really made Louis out to be a slut and his sister bought into it, I'm not sure if I should think she's a bitch for not believing in her bro or for believing in him but still being more concerned about appearances or if i should just write her off as stupid.
I know in the beginning Louis said he'd carry all the burdens and it was fine if he got hurt as long as maettel and the first knights cooperated in the investigation but I'm sure he had no idea it was going to be this bad. I'm sure the author is gonna depict all this as sunshine and rainbows but this sucks.
I really wish i could like metternich/maettel but i can't rn. I'm kinda surprised there is a second season. What more can be said? It doesn't seem like maettel is going to get character development at all. All I've seen in other spoilers is Louis has the baby and it looks exactly like maettel and some happily ever after bs.

I respect your POV. Maetel IS selfish. I mean, in chapter 44, he confesses to Louis and says that one he has loved since their school days is Louis. He says it in one sentence. Now, was that so hard? Why couldn't have said it earlier? A lot of Louis' angst and pain comes from the feelings he has for Maetel, and his belief that it's not only one-sided, he's just an easily disposal play thing. It could have saved weeks/months of pain for Louis.
Maetel decides he won't release Louis until after ropeman/Rafael is executed, so I think it was partly a personal safety thing. As soon as Rafael is executed, Louis is released. I mean, Louis is the person that Rafael was obsessed with, he could have had accomplices.
You made a good point about Louis' sister. I now hate her too.
Ah i read 44, didn't realize it was out til u wrote this. How disappointing. This prince has zero romance in his blood. This whole thing is wrong. Sex at a cheap motel, molesting Louis repeatedly and trolling him to wake up in the palace naked, sex again in a carriage in front of reporters, rape, etc. And this weakass confession. But still he hasn't told him he wore a wig that night 5 mos ago when he bedded a drugged louis. Why? Also there is something inherently arrogant to plan a wedding, tell his parents and everyone in the kingdom but not ask your intended partner. Ugh. Why trap the person u love like that? Ofc I'll bet Louis is gonna be a pushover.

You make good points. I can't really disagree with these ones.
In chapter 44, Maetel proposes to Louis, and it's in a beautifully lit garden at night time, and if it weren't for what went on before, it would be swooningly romantic. Of course, it doesn't make up for what went on before, and what Louis went through. And yes, Maetel should have proposed to Louis before leaking to the papers that they were marrying! Very presumptuous of him, and worse because he's the most powerful person in the kingdom.
I think the sex in a cheap hotel thing is just one of things that happened on the fly, I can't completely fault Maetel for it. He grew up, thinking that Louis was out of his league. One night, Louis climbs into his carriage and is affectionate, and Maetel doesn't know he's under the influence of a psychosomatic drug and unknowingly takes advantage of him.
What's really messed up is everything that happened afterwards. Maetel basically punishes Louis for not contacting him and is really cruel about it sometimes. He threatens not to cooperate in the investigation, and then tells Louis that he must sleep in his bed/eat with him. And there's a zillion acts of passive aggressive behavior. Meanwhile poor Louis can't remember that night and doesn't understand why Maetel is acting that way. Maetel could have done ANYTHING ELSE. Like written a letter to Louis. Or sent for him and asked him why Louis hadn't contacted him, and asked to discuss that night, and then found out that Louis couldn't remember and was probably drugged.
But because Louis is soft-hearted and very forgiving, of course he will give way.

I know this is fiction, but seriously why is this author not allowing Louis to realize he was raped in his dream reflection but still drawing panels of him begging maettel to stop and with expressions of him looking terrified, hurt and disgusted during the sex scenes of the previous chapter? It is clearly depicted as a brutal rape scene of a pretty badly injured louis
for readers and as 'Tuesday' for the people in story.
It's like the author's message is any sex, consensual or not is okay if two people like each other in the end. That is a pretty sick, irresponsible message imho. The rape should have been edited out of the story bc it is not essential to the plot at all or it should have been drawn as the other sex scenes which at least could be considered dubcon. I feel like if the author needed rape in this yaoi s/he should make it happen between weyton and louis not with the first ML and Louis.Sorry for the rant, I'm just a little annoyed. This read is free and II am thankful to the uploaders. I am still curious about how the psychological aspects will play out but I feel a bit disappointed bc this had potential.

Yeah i have already acknowledged it's fiction. I do my best to avoid the trope and do not read those yaoi but sometimes authors bury it deeper in ...after you've already read 20+ chapters and you're kinda committed at that point.
For me if the rape is essential to the plot AND provided it doesn't also include a rape to love scenario, I will push thru and read if the story is written well but after reading like 400 stories only one fits the bill.
Also as a side note, fiction or no authors should be aware that kids get a hold of these stories and honestly think rape is part of how romance in real life plays out.
