I'm under the full Bellwood that he's not. He has some kind of mental disorder and because of the abuse, not only was he unable to get any help, let alone the help he clearly needed; he also seemingly had no live, no friends, no one cares about him literally at all, so he has zero reference for how humans are supposed to treat one another. He's done bad things, but I genuinely think that people have just used punishment and violence towards him, and so no one had ever cared enough, nor wanted to take the time to show him how we're supposed to interact with one another. As a species with a complex world of unique societies. He was not taught to live among people and instead of correcting through compassion, he was just down consequence in the form of punishment.

I'm glad. I should say though, that doesn't mean what he did to mc was ok. Moreso just that if mc decided to forgive him (at this point, because there are many things that could happen that could be completely unforgivable, even for him) I wouldn't be livid, like I am whenever assholes are forgiven for rape despite their knowing it was not just wrong, but absolutely atrocious.
