Is it selfish to do that? Yes. But I kind of understand his motivation. Still hiding it now when he is far away from the previous abusive situation feels worse

nicely summerises all we know about Cedric and all we have seen about the guy who caused Ren's trauma (all with chapter references). Personally I'm really happy we've reached this part of the story. A happy ever after at this point would have been highly illogical. Yes Kyouko has dealt with most of her problems regarding love, but we've heard time and time again from Ren (to Boo) that he does not deserve to love. What the heck was up with chapter 5 and 6? Nothing wrong with making the co-star hit on Ayumu, but going directly to attempted rape, followed by "you're making me feel bad". It's disgusting how much rapey scenes in mangas are normalized, that they just ignore that whole situation.
