I get why y'all are frustrated, but I don't disagree with how this discussion is drawn. The idiot eldest brother won't get it unless it's explained to him word by word - it would seem just as insane if he were to immediately believe her without her going all this way, with how we've seen him characterised.

Would it be nice if the chapters were longer? Hell yes! Do I want that? No, not with a weekly upload schedule. Artists in the webtoon industry get abused all the time, often risk job-threatening injuries due to deadlines and demands from editors and the like (ie. injuring their hands and/or wrists, making them unable to draw for months - and often they're still forced to, worsening their injuries), and hell, death is included. I'd rather have a well-paced story (which this is so far) with shorter chapters than make the artist suffer. ( ̄∇ ̄")

I have noticed over the years that often slowburns/not as fast-paced stories, especially at the beginning 20-40 chapters, their comment sections seem to be flooded by complaints, only for those to make a complete switch after particular amount of chapters. So, I'm just going to assume it's the usual and my fellow lovers/enjoyers/appreciators of slowburn/slower paced stories just aren't bothered to comment and fight with others about views on these things (which is fair) , rather focusing on the story itself╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭

You're free to disagree, I'm simply stating my opinion on this!

True I think that this would have gone differently if there was a sat down discussion, but at the same time, I think FL kinda realizes that it would be a waste of time to try and persuade someone who’s never really tried to side with her. She must also be pissed about everything since antagonist lady is playing victim and confides in the older brother about FL only for him to, “deal with her”. So he’s now technically a perpetrator, to which she possibly feels like she is above having to go out of her way to explain to him, since if he had been knowledgeable enough to try to understand, he would have done so earlier. Not only that, but her older brother also seems to blindly believe the antagonist lady, so that also could be why it’s a bit hard to rationalize some things to him unless done differently. I think they did dramatize this a bit tho lol, but I love it

On the side note, I agree with ur statement about pacing! It’s quite sad to see that some people aren’t willing to wait for a good story sometimes, and as much as they are eager to see the next part, there are also those who don’t have the patience for it. Some artist draw their entire webtoon by themselves, while others, with studios. Either way, burnout as an artist can become very difficult and stressful, and on top of that they know fans are anticipating their works which, in itself, is a ton of pressure. A lot of times, the stories I’ve seen have a pretty consistent schedule around 30 chps, and then it slows down from there. I, personally, don’t mind. Since I always jump around and know that if I’m reading a story that has just released, I’m committed to waiting it out.

Same. I feel like a lot of people who don't draw and/or don't know a lot of artists somehow can't comprehend just how much time and effort everything takes, and take this now standardized weekly schedule for granted. And/or they somehow feel entitled for that upload schedule, and if it changes, they demand for more.

I've had this opinion for a while, but if people want longer chapters while keeping the quality AND work safety of the artist or artists in mind, they need to realise a weekly upload schedule won't work for that. We should normalise that it's okay to not post weekly, I wish more comics could consider a biweekly schedule instead - you have space for slightly longer chapters and hopefully be able to space out one's work schedule better.

Another idea I've heard is that one could upload chapters weekly for some weeks, then have one week of not uploading, which I think would also work. Previously I've thought one week of "break" with every 4-6 weeks of upload is decent, but now I think that it should be one week of break per month with then 3 weeks of weekly uploads. This is because I know those artists will work during that break period anyways, like prepping for the next chapters, so giving more chances for breaks/mandating it so that they do have days where they don't work would be great. This would also likely shorten the times of season breaks (unless the season break is related to the artist's health - and I do think those breaks should still exist and give the artists some time off, but I feel like it could take off some of the pressure of how quickly they need to get back on working on a series)

I am glad that I've seen some comics use the method of uploading roughly 3 times a month, with things like "a new chapter every 2nd, 12th, and 22nd of the month". But yeah, as a whole, I know the whole industry needs to change. People simply don't view being an artist as a real job and a lot of them don't respect where exactly their entertainment is coming from (just look at all the AI bros out there claiming to make original art using AI, completely dismissing the artists and whose works even made it possible for the AI to do anything.)

Ough do these chapters hit home for me, especially 22/23. The way Ines is experiencing her trauma and suffering from flashbacks from just the sight of the SA'er/abuser from her previous life, yet at the same time telling herself how logically she shouldn't be experiencing this but can't control it, and how it must seem unreasonable to others around her since she's the only one who knows whar happened.... it hits close.

[TW for mentions of C SA]

So, I was tricked and SA'd by a relative when I was very young. He was older, about double my age at the time, but still a minor. It took me a few years to slowly realise what had happened, and I wasn't even a preteen yet. I always doubted what had happened because it just seemed so... unimaginably horrible to be real, but due to a sequence of events, my parents found out I had remembered the incident when I was around 17, and confirmed to me that it had happened and what age I was when it did.

I'm now closer to mid 20s, and have never had any particularly reaction to this relative when meeting him a few times a year at family gatherings - except I did suddenly have one earlier this year. He hadn't shown up in a while so I guess I assumed he wasn't coming, so when he suddenly appeared, I had this rush of anxiety and dread and everything bad at once - a trauma response, essentially. Hell, I couldn't even look at him. I was constantly on the verge of tears, and everything got much worse when I could hear my young girl cousins hanging around him, who are roughly the age I was in when it all happened.

All of this explanation to say that while on one hand, it feels unfair for Ines to have to suffer but having no tangible proof to punish the asshole, I relate to it. My mother made me feel guilty about my uncontrollable trauma response by saying she couldn't invite half of my relatives to the next gathering in order not to exclude my,, SA'er and make it obvious to everyone.
Like I understand my trauma is mine to handle and I shouldn't bother others with it, but on the other hand, I've never been able to react to my trauma at all, literally jumping between tiny moments of anxiety and tears at nights when it came to mind, to feeling absolutely nothing at all about it. Nothing for the past 17 years. Then the one time I do, completely unexpectedly to me included, I'm considered to be irrational and selfish.

Idk, I guess I relate to the unfairness of Ines because in my case, he was also a minor at the time - can one really blame him? I'm also unable to feel anger, and it always felt like my mother has taken a "neutral" stance on the issue, not really on my side. I guess it feels a bit unfair, bevause it feels like it minimizes all the trauma I've experienced in the past two decades because of him, just because he was a kid. Hey, I was one too. (I will say, while he was a minor, he was 100% old enough to know better.)

Sorry for the long ramble and explanation, if anyone managed to read through this, thanks. I appreciate it. ( ̄∇ ̄")

    azerty December 17, 2024 10:36 pm

Him been a minor doesn't forgive anything and your mother f*ck,i'm sorry but I really want to curse at her. She should be with you not help revive your trauma.
I hope you have people who truly listen to you and are willind to help and accompanying you. You're truly a fighter and deserve the better. (I'm not sure if I explain properly what I want convey as I not good at english)

These moments are supposed to be sweet, and guess what, I'd agree! If they were done in private with only the two of them!!! I absolutely hate how loud the Emperor has to be when talking to MC despite being aware that he's the only one who can see and hear her spirit form. Talking to a doll is one thing sure, but at least others can see you're talking to something, but talking to thin air?? Dancing by yourself??? ARGHHHHH the secondary embarrassment is so big I barely got through this chapter I would prefer it if he only talked to her out loud in private, and otherwise he'd hide talking to her,,, or at least keep talking to the doll even when she's in her spirit form.

I'm suffering I want more but i don't know how much more of this I can handle

Not really. He was on the balcony, we weren't showed if he closed the curtains or not - it's very, very, very likely/possible the people nearby saw him. He also very much went there by himself from other's perspective and was being odd (even more than normal, like leaving the doll behind). It's p much just as bad in terms of how it seems to others and it would'e been sweet had he done it somewhere where no one knew he went

In Rofan's like this, the curtains are closed because usually they have a lover with them and it's a private time. But that's if the curtains ARE closed. Open or not though, no one seems to be on the second floor, only him and her (and maybe guards? Idk, I forgot). But you're right about him acting odd lol

I wonder if the original Daphne got possessed by a demon/evil entity? The characters seemed to mention something like that with the scene in ch 21 (of an entity disappearing) and it do be sus how Daphne was drenched right in the middle of the temple, and how she seemed to react to the future ex-fiance.

    Jade August 5, 2024 8:34 am

But she's creating medicine for a disease that only Holy powers can help and has no magic powers. It seems more likely that the temple is corrupt and she's actually a very real saint.

Do you mean that the current Daphne (MC) is doing that? I'm too lazy to go back and reread from the beginning, but from my understanding the previous/og Daphne was known for creating poisons, no? I've been reading so many new stories lately that I can't remember if it was this one where the og villainess MC possessed wanted to become saint for approval or not ( ̄∇ ̄") either way you can't deny that this whole scene of the past seen in ch 21 is sus.

Old Daphne was only rumoured but she was so terrible at herbalism that she couldn't grow basic plants. She was blamed for poisoning the queen or something but she didn't do it and then she was accused of poisoning herself but we know that poison was purchased off of the assassin's guild by a high ranking person. She desperately wanted to become a saint for approval but never did! They never recognised her as such which is why I suspect the temple of being corrupt. I wonder who saved her from drowning though since it wasn't that boy who lied and she became obsessed with.

Anyways new Daphne can definitely make poison now and really good medicine and it works well on the prince dude's pain caused by his magic disease. But he specifically says she has no magic and it's mentioned her mother has no magic as well and lived empty headed or something. I think they have holy powers in the family that potentially make plants grow really well or something.

It could be just new Daphne though... Since old Daphne couldn't grow plants and new Daphne grows difficult plants easily but old Daphne was doing everything wrong so it's sort of implied she might have been able to had she researched anything properly.

Thanks for the reminder + everything else
Yeah, I guess we just have no choice but to wait and see ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭ it also could be that the evil entity mentioned just tagged along elsewhere or near og Daphne which might've influenced her (idk, I just find it really suspicious that after she had somehow found drenched in the temple, an evil entity had also escaped confinement and it was the start of Daphne's obsession to the ex-fiance). But yeah! I'm sure her lack of magic plays a part.

Very interesting!! I also love that it's a vietnamese one, I honestly can't wait to see the outfits and everything. So used to seeing historical fiction based in either general Europe, Japan, Korea, or China (/those cultures) so I'm always happy to find something outside of that. ^^

I'm not a fan that his majesty got jealous so early on. I would hope it's some other jealousy than the romantic kind, but knowing these series, it rarely is - at least when we know they're likely going to end up together at some point.

Yes, she is 18, but the characters constantly call her a child. She definitely looks like one, and she is also very naive in many ways (but then again, she is also smart and quick to catch on). This can work if we see her act more like her age and see her personality/capabilities come through, and only then would I be okay with the Emperor falling for her (because he would be falling for her mind and personality, not her physical appearance). It would be really fucking weird if he fell for he/did anything to her right now, as the manhwa also keeps constantly reminding us. I hope her growth was stunted by magic or something (or just mistreatment) and she gets to grow to look at least a bit older from now on.

(I know short women can be looked down upon and infantalised just because they look young due to their height/overall appearance, which is why I don't want to say "hell no" to this immediately. As long as we see her act her age and gain knowledge of the world before any actual romance happens, I'm good - rn the issue is that due to her meek nature and lack of general experiences, she can appear almost child-like sometimes, and that hits things way too close for my tastes.)

I'm trying to keep good faith and hope this is good, partly because I was so pleasantly surprised to see the Salvator family not be asses to her, especially the daughter she replaced. They didn't mistreat her and she even accepted her as a sister and genuinely cares for her - I loved that. The count didn't give me worst vibes either, it's likely he just wants to protect his own daughter. This replacement trope is common, but it is rare to se the MC treated kindly by the family. I wish we had seen more of them before she was sent to the palace, and I hope this isn't the end of things. I hope the sisters get to reunite and continue to have a good relationship.

"Blessed Saint Marianne, why would you bless Mayer Knox with every possible gift... except for the ability to read his own heart?"

I had to pause reading the chapter because of how much I started laughing at Father August's thoughts honestly he's so valid in giving up, both of them are dense and oblivious in their own ridiculous ways - sometimes you just have to choose your battles lmao.

I don't care if the pacing appears slow, I've read someone say it is faithfully adapting from the novel and that is always good to hear (even if they're not a fan of the pacing of the manhwa), I genuinely love these characters and always so excited when a new chapter comes out. MC and ML may be typical leads in some sense, but in others they're also unique on their own. I personally really enjoy their dynamic and can't wait to see where things go, even if it takes time ٩(๑❛ᴗ❛๑)۶
