instead of saying that it was love at first sight, it would have been more realistic if he said that he gradually fell for him after meeting up with him again or something. love at first sight seems like a stretch.
the uke has a cute design, though his obsessive tendencies worry me / rub me the wrong way. i feel like there's a huge misconception when it comes to idolizing / obsessing over vs loving someone.
for those that want a manga with a similar plot after finishing ao no flag, i suggest checking out faded first love. it's very wholesome and is similar to this story, except it focuses more on the two boys falling for each other.

there's so many routes / plot twists that this story can have so why opt for the one that's the most cheesy and unsatisfying. it would be amazing to have a story where the seme realizes he's in a toxic relationship and moves on + sees his self-worth. not only is it refreshing, but it's an eye opener for people that are in these awful situations irl. too bad we all know the ending is going to consist of them ending up together for some bullshit reason, smh.

while it's not the sort of plot i talked about above, this manga is definitely the wholesome plot you're looking for. it's so pure, realistic, and does a fantastic job at representing a gay romance.
