The only reason why he's still a educator at Eden is cuz his dad bailed him out after threatening him to never do it again or else he would never be allowed to teach again. And he wants to make a difference by teaching young students and hopefully shape them to be against war. He was then pressured by his father to marry to continue the bloodline and he agreed because he fully Believed his beloved Martha was dead. Half of that chapter was Mr Henderson realizing his feelings and praying for Martha's safe return and the end is him grieving and moving on for Martha's sake. He began teaching in hopes of making a better future by nurturing the states elite. A future where Martha wouldn't have had to die because of war.

The Animes never get the Dudes right. They always only focus on the Females to make them as similar to the Manga as possible, but absolutely fail with the Boys. The anime makes him look so mediocre
