Player Who Returned 10,000 Years Later
33 - (i would probably rate it 2, but the 9.6 average is criminal !) it’s super boring !!! how is it rated so high ?
The MC has nothing to learn : he start op, despite being « level one », he’s stronger than his opponent by much, and that will have him becoming more op, easily, through massacres again
He has no interesting drive (regaining strength, eating, girlfriend maybe)
You have a serie of battle, long with no interest as you know he’ll win everything, a MC with ambiguous morality : it’s ok in lots of places, but he’s still a devil king who has no problems manipulating with demonic powers, killing or letting people die
And again, you find bad guys (the stupid kind) for a very meager plot
Author, In This Life I’m The Protagonist
10 dropped,
Lots of me talk , « i’m the author « of that (bad) novel
The MC has no depth, she’s idiotic and 2D
I dropped when she stated she wouldn’t miss the show, talking about torture
That’s not only the character mistaking fiction and reality, but the writer too - there’s no way anybody normal would stand this type of gruesome horror
Essentially it’s plain boring as the MC walk through everything like a tourist, shows no empathy or concern about anything, but get exited by herself about her own creation
That story that feels like a bad amateur draft
The Betrayed Queen is Devoted To By The Beautiful Baron
15 - duh, probably dropped
I hate the c15where the MC talk her gentle and faithful dad into getting a mistress or a queen because she wants out of the throne
He regards her feelings highly and wants to protect her at all cost, when he has no desires to find another woman, and instead of siding with him, she just crushed him with her selfish ploy
Just like i feel ugly when there’s a woman married off to give birth to heirs, that man is no breeding lifestock either - it’s plain disgusting for both him, her late mom, and his future companion
Young master is too Righteous
39 - once again, the « in fashion » guy that wants to be evil for his own benefit, without realizing what it truly means (or should we be worried if he really does ?)
In any case, the MC is either dumb, or psycho (or both ?)
I understand better the criticism about the humor being out of place, as soon as the MC seems really serious about doing real bad things - like when he gets to meet the bandit - it feed the psycho hypothesis and that is not fun at all
It’s a bit disappointing as the variation about a bad guy doing good can be amusing for a while, but at it’s core, bad is still bad : there really are too much heavy stuff to pass it as a joke
How can a reader be confortable when molesting girl , bribing , killing (including mass murder) or sealing are supposed to be a shortcut to growth ? Should it really be taken so lightly ?
Revenge of the Iron-Blooded Sword Hound
32 - misplaced energy ?
I’m not fond of revenge stories, few escape some bad to very tendencies, this one doesn’t
It already makes very little sense that an « expandable « was trialed and executed when his owner could have had many way to let him die in action, including one that would set his on his path
(Also traditionally beheading (and the « betterment guillotine) was a punishment for nobles, common criminals were hung)
Nonetheless, while being reborn, the person he’s facing is the same, yet not the same :
It’s not like Montecristo , a man hiding deep to punish the one who did him wrong - even there, Dumas was clever enough to show how revenge would also cost him everything important, focusing on his past, he miss the chance at happiness - but we can live with the ambiguity of his success , never being too happy or satisfied, it’s a bitter yet meaningful story
The enormous flaw of these reverse time stories is that people change :
Lots of characters are changed from new and different interactions : but that MC sees, yet doesn’t respect the change ; the 3 evil guys became his admirers, but he only want to use them , he’s impatient to see them die
He wants revenge on a man who gave him power and authority, opportunities, an elder who respect him and sincerely nurtured him : for what ? For things he never did in this life ?
Honestly this is burdensome
The « enemy «in this life seems much more ok than many regular people : in fact the « bad guy » of his previous life is a very rare man who let him grow despite his poor origins and reward his real talents : nothing short of a benefactor ?
If you read « i’ll be the matriarch in this life », the MC acknowledges people change and adapt her response accordingly. Many things become possible because she also offered better options for the kids to grow better or the adults to behave with care : and it mostly work
Some people are bad, but others, given a choice, will be decent
Instead of an interesting story about self accomplishment ( note that there’s already no reason why this character had the opportunity of a second try at life, not special did or worth granting him that opportunity), you are supposed to cheer on him blindly buying the « morality « of his endeavors
Note that, beside revenge, there’s is also a strange love for torture (in behaviorism, you’ll learn that it is indeed as addictive to the perpetrator, as it is inefficient)
So here you are : there’s a « dog » who swore not to be a dog ever again : fine, he actually managed so — but be’s the psycho case, loving torture and judging others for evils that were never committed in this life.
In my book, that’s an evil psycho
As revenge is an animal instinct that suppresses moral sense(it’s means for tribe survival, suppressing even survival instinct), he obviously won’t care if his choices are going to hurt others, including the ones he deems nice and interesting -
It’s not as bad as the Hourglass story, but i still DROPPED
Author have a few loses screws nowadays, this love for (quasi) evil tend to distract them from properly understanding what they are truly saying (or is it a despise for good and moral values ?) - there’s something deeply wrong in there
Control Player
26 - boring OP MC , solo searching for more conquests and battle to win
Utterly pointless
Sorry, But I Am Just a Normie
