40 - 4+ a mix with lots of emotional angles ?
This series doesn’t feel like it has just one focus, even if the romance part is getting bigger (maybe a bit too much in proportion ?)
There quite a good balance between between different genres
It’s rather heavy about childhood abuse and traumas
There’s quite a bit about hospital life (not too deep, but meaningful)
Much about family matters : a disfunctional adoptive family, a family with just two children growing up and supporting each others, a family where the stepmother is absolutely toxic, a family with a diseased child. Etc
You can easily guess a lot of the ongoing situation and where it’s heading, it’s not like you’re going to be very surprised by some chocking revelation, nonetheless, it’s nicely written and you feel like seeing more of the healing of these characters.
The MC is both excruciating and caring (he’s a strange one) the FL is cute, king and brave
I believe a lot of the verbal miscommunication is sadly lost in translation, but the MC is obviously speaking very well but with the wrong choices of words which we can seldom perceive. (Language barrier)
So there should be some comic part, missing for us. We just know he’s blunt from hearsay. He’s also a serious misanthrope but his work ethic and devotion makes up for his faws.
I suppose he’s inspired by some mean TV series characters.
But luckily there’s no hospital politics
Maybe it’s missing a bit in the work dimension. The story is nice, but it could be richer or deeper outside of the characters background and romance bit.

Lucky the MC is not fine with hunting humans , and he is also going out of his way to save people
That doesn’t make him naive or a pushover, he will defend himself and his party, but he, at least has a normal mindset , not like to many sociopathic characters getting easily comfortable with murder
That being said, it doesn’t feel original, and the characters are not defined enough to make me grow attached
Lastly we’re definitely going towards an OP character, the growth of his new found teammates is rather slow compared to his, while he spent 3 bonus tickets on healing his disabilities. It’s very strange he is ahead of everyone in these conditions ?

Very delicate portrait of grief, damaged relationships between siblings, healing (there is a long way) and understanding
Plus a toxic world of stardom
Add a hidden murderer and a boy with bad reputation chasing him alone and your in for a roller coaster

They obviously come clean to how they feel in c26, but it will be better if they have the resolve to follow through

Another forgotten genius, another accident an virtual reality bringing him back, fine
He’s a top archer, but also a ninja who moves silently, a yamakazi doing parkour moves, a hunter picking sound from the ground and shooting blinds that kills - yeah yeah …

But why on earth does a normal person can kill other people in virtually so carelessly ?

One needs to be congruent, it’s supposed to be hyper realistic, with perception being very real : our brains dating from far before the virtual age know nothing about games or virtual. The more perception are deceived, the more likely the experience will be entirely considered as real by the unconscious mind
Now get this facts straight : If the conscious amounts to 40, the unconscious mind’s power amount to 11 million.
Its faster, stronger and we hardly can pretend we control it with our tiny 40

This should be enough to be mindful of what we feed our brain in a virtual universe
But I am rather troubled by the total lack of of emotion of the character when it comes to killing.
I know it’s a game, but it’s supposed to feel real. He not shooting green pixels or characters from pretty 3D , it’s supposed to be realistic. Yet he has no trouble even when it’s not self defense, but pure murder / assassination.
From the start he shoot people in the back, when they run away and ask for mercy or help, without any hesitation
Then he goes into another toxic game in which players gather to kill each others « for fun », and goes on murder spree, including in close combat with a knife and he has no problem with it : aren’t bodies warm and breathing ? Does blood have no color ? No smell ?

This is so wrong
Our brain doesn’t make the difference between reality and fiction, it’s largely documented with movies and regular games … But what with augmented reality ? A normal person feels sick and is resistant to kill another person, so what kind of crappy trauma or sick reflexes or habits would grow from this kind of repeated experience ?

On the flip side, did writers learn nothing from neuro plasticity ?
When someone lose some abilities after a stroke, for example, the use of the right arm, reeducation can be made by doing action in front of the mirror to build new neurological path, by letting the brain believe the currently « disabled » arm is ok , because in the mirror it looks like the left arm which is not injured
It’s not like it’s overworking anything, the brain can learn new way, and it’s certainly not limited in it’s abilities to find new pathways.
Wouldn’t his virtual experience set him on a path to heal in the real world, by letting his brain construct new access with appropriate control ?

By the way I am not fond of another athlete in a wheelchair being the other super player , seriously, isn’t one disabled person already a lot ?

But why on earth ddi the writer need to make her someone who enjoys hunting ?
Shooting animals you don’t need to hurt and you won’t even eat for pleasure in that ? It’s sick :/
