I gave this the benefit of the doubt thinking that the story as whole would “mature” (that was my first mistake) through later chapters, and I was sorely disappointed. If you’re looking for thoroughly fleshed out story with characters who grow from their terrible ways, maybe not in their day to day but at least within their relationship, this ain’t it. There’s constant r*pe I’m not even gonna try to say smut, non-consent is non-consent, at least 1-2 chapters. Yeah the art is hot or whatever but knowing the context behind every damn sex scene, that it’s just some perv’s weird obsession with his savior, it’s just wild. Nothing feels cohesive. I understand this is an unreliable narrative situation but genuinely speaking it was a pain and a half to make it to the end. There’s so many things that even in an unreliable narrator pov that could have been conveyed better…maybe I’m being too harsh but it was tough to read. Plus idk if it’s the translation or the way it was genuinely written, but it constantly feels like the author is throwing random facts at the reader’s face to compensate for their lack of proper world building. No one genuinely monologue’s how someone’s body functions mid conversation. No one is gonna drop random fun facts in the middle of angrily trying to defend themselves from their r*pist. So overall rating a solid 2/5 stars.
