I think he very well could be. Or at least was romantically involved beatrice. In the novel, he even walks Rieta down the aisle on her wedding.
I'm so happy to read that last line because morbidus is raising some serious death flags in the last few chapters and I'm SCARED. I want to see Rieta's joy when she realised she has family left in him and they leave happily ever after.

The prince that was murdered married a brown skinned woman from the other country. That's why his skin is brown and he has blonde hair, so it is indeed the current crown prince and not a child of Odeli :)
